Some showers brewing in the North sea heading towards Whitby/Moors area. Out and about at work in the van this evening so if I have gaps between my drops I will be chasing the showers  :yahoo:

Proper cold air upon us now, our pond froze last night for the 1st time this winter...-2degC at 9am, the remnants of the snow flurry last night have only just melted, plenty of showers out in N.Sea but missing us, probably hit Norfolk...temp has struggled up to 1degC...was lightly snowing for few mins this morning from very little cloud..!

Pic of our first lying snow this winter...and for those of you that live inland, a pic of what the sea looks like in a Nly gale...temp up to 1.5degC, some thicker cloud pushing in from north now...nothing on radar though...

Very light snow currently in Scarborough

I think the next few days is our best shot at lying snowfall for this winter (Pickering/Malton). A new warning was issued a few hours ago updating the snow warning for this evening and overnight. 1-2 cm generally but 5cm poss on the NYM's.

Afternoon everyone :)

Milky skies over Sheffield today, hardly any melt though which is good. temps are just 1c here. Should be dropping again soon. Was well below freezing last night but no frost!

Is it the very negative dew points that prevent frost? The air seems very dry so I suspect that the low humidity meant that it was just very cold but dry overnight?

Good luck to all those on the coast tonight, tomorrow and even through wednesday! Showers now starting to show up yes and the forecast still looks good for the next few days. Weds sounds best for most of the region.

I wonder if we can get a trough to develop and come inland. Id say again, Wednesday sounds best chance for that with the strong winds.

I hope all you Easties get a good covering over the next 48 hours :)

Looks like a streamer setting up just north of Whitby, and they seem to be growing over land. If they can make it another 20 miles they are going straight towards my house, sods law I'm now in York.

Moors gobbling up all the showers as they are not even making it to Pickering, hopefully they will push further inland later on.

good luck to all tonight who want snow, temp here currently 2.6c, humidity 74% dew point  -1.5c, so still marginal for snow here, need temp to drop rapidly to have a chance of anything that does fall being snow

That snow shower was nice!! Melted fast though. Temp steady at 2c but humidity shot up. Dew point now 1.1c.

Hoping for a bit of evaporative cooling as the next shower heads in!

These showers albeit quite light seem to be heading quite a long way West already.

I might even see a flake!
