Just had heavy precip here and started turning sleety but eased off again to rain...might be too late by Feb...if bloody Jet-stream was in right place we'd have be having a beast from the east for the past month, looks like really mild air will push over the UK High into Scandinavia next week while Italy/France/Spain will be below freezing...!!!

It's nice to hear that some places are as snow-averse as where i live...

Yes us on east coast didn't get any either tho lookin at weather station the dew point here was 0.5c fine lines and all that would be nice for us on coast to get massive lake effect snowstorm we can only dream

Interesting tonight all depends on whether the winds swing or not. Interesting that the band of cloud I can see to the east is getting closer.

Managed a bit of sleet in a heavier shower this morning, but apart from that we've had nearly 20mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

Still quite cold though with a max of 3.7C today. A chance later as the wind is more northerly now, much more favourable for snow here.

First band of snow/sleet just crossing the North York Moors, with a heavier band behind it, will be interesting to see if they can last all the way to the pennines.

All the way to York would be a good start! Though I suspect our lack of elevation will get us again...

York has had a couple of poor winters after a run of 3 of 4 great ones. Was unlucky yesterday as if the band for 50 miles North could of had at least a decent covering. The only advantage York has this evening as its quite a way from the coast and there will not be much warming effect from the east wind so you never know could see a covering. Will let you know what it falls as when it reaches here. The heavier the precip the better the chance we have, unless your above 100m in the wolds or moors then your sorted.

Not much melt up here today. Enjoyed being out in the snow clearing the drive etc. Lovely wintry scenes. You cant beat trees covered in snow can you, amazing :D

Tonight looks fun, with round 2 possibly, yellow warning covers all of Yorkshire now. Some good showers on radar so lets get another few inch tonight. What a great few days this has turned out to be :smiliz19:

The showers have reached here, just sleet currently. The ground is far too wet to let snow settle anyway.

1C and falling here, so hopeful that any showers here will fall as snow. Still some snow left with a max of 3C. A lovely winters day. :)

As much as I would love us to get more snow in Barnsley tonight, I doubt many of the showers are going to make it further West than the A1. Currently those showers that are moving in land appear to be mostly of rain or sleet at best and also becoming lighter in intensity as they move inland. I think those of us who did well last night will have to be happy with that for now, and hope we start to see the models forecast an improved picture as we head into January.

Yes. sleet here also, just come back over Wolds and snow is falling around about the 200m mark, however thats in the lighter precip, anything heavier would drop that down. Chopgate looks nice!

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
