More than forecast probably 5cm and rising. Loads low down as well. Bit of a breeze here but anemometer is frozen.

Just cold rain here aswell like those closer to the coast.

Temperature is 3.0C with a dewpoint of 2.4C. Not even close to being snow unfortunately.

2014 still snowless!

Quite possibly power cables struggling under the weight of the snow...

And here - sleet rather than rain and it snowed briefly, but the temps and dew points wrong side of marginal here now.

Still, at least we did have falling snow, our first in 2014 too.

Was expecting it to ease off at anytime but its become heaviest its been all night. Its getting blown around

now and coming down horizontal

I cant believe how much snow is on the ground, if it carries on a bit longer there'll be 15cm on the wheelybin.

Blimey! Got stuck in the snow and had to abandon the car with many others at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. Had to walk 2 miles uphill to shirecliffe with crazy scences on view all over the place. Back at home I've measured 13cm on the bin and a general cover of 12cm to 13cm. Much above expectations in Sheffield. Surprised no amber warning was issued earlier. I'm cold and need a cuppa! But kind of enjoyed it...lol. Now I'm gonna catch up on who got it and who missed out. Sheffield definetly got it!

The snow is slightly wetter here as temps appear to be rising across the region

I don't understand why trees a good 30+ years old would fall down

5-10cm is nothing special

9cm of wet heavy snow in wet ground and a stiff wind from the NE will be enough to bring some down.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
