Temp risen by 0.5c to 2.0c. I suspect the wind direction has charged slightly to bring some sea modified air in.  Not looking good at this point for (my area).  PPN closing in.  looks to be 45 mins away.....

Dew temps are still looking low going by weather station so that could compensate somewhat, the winds look off shore so I don't think its down to any influence off the North Sea.

There is no real direction to the showers in one sence but they should edge southwards as the low heads southwards.

One difference between tonight and last night and that is the air is forecast to eventually turn colder by morning so it should not be raining by the morning but I suspect the PPN will be gone by then!

can't work out the movement/direction of these showers, surely by midnight they should be more widespread and further south in our region by then

What matters is dewpoints and upper air temps (as well as what feeds in from the sea). An air temp of 2.6, or 3.6 even is neither here nor there if the others numbers are "right": air temps will drop under decent ppn.

Now up to 2.2c.  Snow stopped.  Temp rise could be due to the cloud cover.  Could go either way here.......

Difficult lamp post watching at the moment as it is swaying in the wind!

Same as my lamp post.  Light snow started again.  I would be very surprised if the incoming ppn does not start as snow.

Still bone dry here.

How long are we talking before the ppn arrives?

Question will be, will those dewpoints rise as we head through the night, slightly less cold air will come into play and the wind might be starting to veer stright North which will no doubt bring some moderation off the North Sea, could be another snow to rain event?

A closer look at the models may suggest the colder air might not tuck back in until Sunday daylight hours, it could go either way though but in a way, its a nothing to lose situation, most of us don't have snow on the ground and most of us have low expectations to start off with.

Nice to see a woman posting.

Your sort are always right, so a question for you.

Will I see settling snow tonight?

You've just made that up, there is no scientific logic to that statement :D

Glad I stocked up on essentials at Asda earlier.

In my house the hubby is the one always right, even when he's wrong!! I wish I knew, it's getting boring waiting now. if I can't have snow then roll on summer!

2 things...

1.. the ppn looks like it is heading slightlyinland still - could it miss the coast (Sunderland area)??

2... the Pennines will look fantastic for my trip up there tomorrow with a fresh few inches of top up!! :-D

I'm surprised how slow moving out it is or is it fizzling out at the border.

I'm afraid it looks like it's fragmenting and weakening, guys. :/

I can't see that on my radar.  where are you looking?

It does seem to be struggling a bit.

North Northumberland looks to be getting a pasting.
