Beautiful cover of powder in the sun this morning, not a great depth but very pretty with all the snow still stuck to the trees. Pics later.

I'm assuming the big band missed me to the South.

There's a band heading down across the country - I'm presuming with the temps & DP's coming up, anything that falls will be sleet/rain ?

It's still snowing at Dalmally 153ft asl where the band is. So I suspect anywhere away from the West Coast will still be snow and not sleet.

Well the on the rare occasion that I'm not in Dumfries it gets lots of snow apparently. I saw the radar an it just looked like a constant stream of showers hitting that area.

Stirling has had some snow but not as much I don't think. Still 2-5cm was predicted for here and that has transpired.

I wonder how much will melt in the coming days?

Some pictures from this morning. The scenery on this sunny day is just beautiful on this train journey. First 2 from Grangemouth other 3 from polmont. I measured 2 cm in Grangemouth and 2.5cm in polmont.

Some brutally heavy showers in the early hours. 16cm cover and some drifting. Would take a pic but I have to clear memory on my phone apparently as it won't let me

The screen grab from the A9 at Daviot beside here this morning looked fun. More to come it seems. Currently -1C

Showers are not coming inland at the moment. Skirting the west coast only. Carol on BBC weather this morning was fairly confident the organised belt from the north was going to get down to Central tonight. You know that the Grampians normally swallow the snow from the north. Maybe the intensity of the snow will push it further south.

Well I don't think there is anything to gripe about in the 06z. The overall picture is cold  for the next 10 days. We just wont know until something materialises in the shorter term. All in all, quite happy. :)

Since it was me who decreed that all those with snow MUST post pictures, here goes with our snowy walk with the dogs this morning.

I'm on the fence with this one, very happy to have had some snow while others have had the visit from the HEE-HAW monster, but a little miffed when I've seen cars travelling through Kelso this morning (and last night) with a few inches of snow on them. Close, but no cigar, maybe a roll-up?

Edit: I texted my Dad earlier to see how much snow they'd had in Kilmacolm, you can tell he's a civil engineer when the reply came back "50mm". No-one else I know would report that amount of snow as 50mm :D

You needn't worry I have 6cm in the garden so more than I expected after yesterday, and the toys are staying in the pram! LOL :D

Glasgow where I work has only about 2cm which I was very surprised at after watching the snow last night.

More snow tonight hopefully and maybe a wee bit today. This is definately the most snow I have had for at least three years.

Yeah there was a bit of phantom snow on the radar last night.

That blob is confusing it looks like it's now going west towards Glasgow! I though it was going south? :pardon:

Well , another cold, bright, dry day here in Aberdeen.   The snow shield is certainly working wonders here.    Met Office has snow and ice warnings now for pretty much all of the UK over the next few days.    Will that snowman ever get built ????

You'd expect with the wind due to swing around to the North we'd be more in the firing line. Checking the BBC weather app on my phone though shows a band of rain coming through tonight into tomorrow morning for Kemnay. After that it shows various combinations of rain and sleet. It's not until Sunday you get a pure snow symbol. Let's hope it does better than that. I'd prefer a continuation of dry, bright and cold rather than rain!

Good to see all the photos posted, a bit of vicarious pleasure is welcome. Is this why it's called 'snow-porn'? :shok: Especially like Catch's... photos! :whistling::good:

Wind's heading round to a more favourable direction for the northern contingent now but we have this sodding mild sector coming through tomorrow.

I'll get my fix somehow...

Am off to Edinburgh this afternoon so hope to see some snow!

Here in coastal NE Fife the snowshield has coped admirably with the recent westerly and NWly incursions, this weekend's northerly threat should also be a piece of cake!

Been snowing here for about 45 minutes and still going. All morning has been just constant snow showers.

Damn had to be in snowless Paisley didn't I !

And from MET:

Showers of sleet, snow and hail will continue through the rest of Thursday and into Friday morning, although at lower levels there will be a gradual trend towards rain   and sleet from Thursday evening onwards. This will bring a risk of further snow, especially on higher ground, along with icy stretches on untreated surfaces.

although i liked the look of the fax and the angle of the potential NE flow and trough the weather warnings point towards a wishbone effect and the doomsday scenario...

we miss from the  Nwest then miss from the Neast and the sledge run fails to become operational in theis cold spell..... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr considering a TOOORP

foolishly promised sledging tonight last night as the first heavy shower piled through....unfortunately the only one.....

can anyone see any reason for optimisim in the Perth area?

Got to do the smug snow tyres thing today 3 young guys took 20 mins to get up a wee brae in front of house I was brushing snow off car. While they compacted and polished the surface then they disappeared I gets into car out of drive up now really slidy brae and catch them up, stuck on a slight incline I come to halt then proceed to drive round them in thick snow. To hear one of them shout how's that old punter able to do that and you can't !

Here's hoping Ravelin!!    Must admit the current set up has been fantastic beach walks and a bit of star gazing at night..     If we cant have snow then this is the next best thing in my book.

The Met Office are certainly covering all eventualities with their current warnings.

Clouding over here, looks like rain cloud though ?!

Some snow covering melt underway even though it feels freezing in the wind.

Northerly doesn't usually bring much here as not directly in the firing line, need an easterly component.
