Latest GFS

Chart weatherbell

Looks like a close but no cigar event knocker I dare say I'll see sleet with elevation but unlikely to see snow now.

2.1c maximum here today, now that is cold to very cold when compared to the average. Yet, the search for the holy grail white crystals continues, I simply hope the 12zs provide some chances. Will certainly be watching as others have mentioned time and time again, snow is real difficult thing to forecast but whilst the probability of it falling for some of us remains, I remain optimistic and as ever, my glass is half full.

Yup but you can't put much faith in the GFS snow predictions, even at this range. Best stick to the METO guidance but even they can have problems.

Anyway at the moment Cs and Ac encroaching from the west.

  :nonono:  Just looked at the met office regional map for Tuesday into Wednesday and it shows a mix of rain, sleet and snow all the way down to devon with no real line or pattern although somerset and Bristol has rain for most with devon under more wintry ppn it makes no sense.

I'd imagine that'd be for the mild sector and the mixing zone of the milder and colder air, which'll lead to rain rather than snow... Just a guess based on what I've seen!

Can see the frontal cloud beginning to arrive from the west, about to scupper another chance at a proper cold night.

According to the Metoffice it's not going to rain/ sleet or snow for most of the week except Friday, Tuesday and Wednesday have less than 20% chance

Although as pointed out by a helpful Mod Thread poster, it was the wrong time scales. I retire officially  :fool:

Sounds simple but try turning it off and on again? First try just closing the browser and re opening, but if not then the whole computer system.

If that still doesn't work you can try clearing cookies... That may fix it?

Thank you. Tried the on/off thing, didn't work. Cookie clearing????? I take it you didn't mean hoovering up the last of the shortbread...that's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject! Fired it up in safe mode instead now, the writing is now HUGE.

It's blinking cold out there today, I'm guessing reading through this thread that the only chance we have of seeing white stuff falling is if we empty the odd bean bag out of the bedroom window?

Anyone else having problems viewing the forum? Everything else working absolutely fine on my computer but the community pages on here - type face turns into teeny, tiny size.

Sounds like you've set a weird zoom for the page - does pressing ctrl & + zoom it in for you?

-0.5c and falling, its just a case of how low we can get before the cloud rolls in now.

at T30, The GFS is normally on the ball, as are all the most used mid-range models.....still, saying that, snow is notoriously hard to forecast, the GFS isn't bringing much ppn into the region sadly as dewpoints (from an IMBY perspective) aren't that bad.....I guess we'll just have to wait and see

How high is your location?

Over 250m with hill behind me climbing up to 290m hasn't done me much good last 2 winters though.. :nonono:

-1.4c and falling fast, really is a shame we cant just get one clear night to record some stonkers.

Now -1.6c

Changed my plans to go to Sussex on Wednesday instead of Thursday as I knew snow chances were looking good for the downs on Wednesday morning, then the GFS goes and rolls that mush out grhhhhh

-0.3°C after a high of 5.0°C thought it seemed a tad to high but was on par with most local stations.

Interesting that Swanage has been colder than here all day. 2.5°C here, 0.5°Cin Swanage.

Swanage is in a bit of a bowl though
