Gonna be a wash streamer for some folk tonight (probably not this far north, more towards Northants) But it's great to see, hopefully more surprises over the next few days, before HP moves in. :-)

Now if only the big clump of showers would stall over the midlands and be fed a continual supply of ice cold air and moisture from... somewhere :p and we awaken to 6" of snow. You gotta dream!

there is some rotation in this? look at radar near kings lynn at around 7.30 and heading mainly south towards cambridge...

Slightly off topic but I hope someone can answer me.

 

Why does snow always melt on roads first ? I understand if it's a busy road, lots of cars driving over the top pumping hot exhaust gases all over it etc. But my main road has about one car every 10 minutes, and yet the effect is still much the same. Surely one lone car every 10 minutes can not impart enough heat in the fraction of a second that it covers each part of the road to make snow melt ?

Well now, this is interesting! Even some chance of a little bit of snow making it to me, depending on whether the stuff now over South Staffs can hold together long enough. Worth a bit of lamp-post watching tonight, which I really didn't expect to be saying! :)

I highly doubt it :p It's pretty rural here. I've certainly never seen a gritting lorry or anything.

By the way i flake falling every minute here and that is of microflake size.

It looks as if a break is occuring on the radar and it is heading straight for us.

Oh well, we'll see.

Yeah, it looks like it's pepping up as it approaches Birmingham but equally it looks like a big snow shield is activating!!
