BBC NW weather confirmed it. No point in those of us in the Southwest of the region lampost watching until tomorrow morning

So painfully close them showers!

The really big proper showers are in the orange warning area in North England, Southern Scotland!

Rain and hail showers here S Manchester thus far, very disapointing.

There is a warm sector passing through though and it should clear the South of the region around 9PM with DP's dropping again from there.

Euro 4 looks pretty good tonight and Thursday but rain on Friday likely as another warm sector passes through.

Have around 2in of snow here, showers really packing a punch with the wind. Roads are a bit dicey, past one car in the lake and stopped at a police road block while they recovered a bus from the hedge. Only just got back up the hill home and that's with winter tyres on!

Have you not had any snow today? the radar has shown heavy ppn moving over you in the past 6 hours.

Ive had loads of sleet showers and the odd snow shower.

Over the last hour I've had about 2 heavy snow showers not settling as yet. Slight dusting in places. Hope it gets better later. What about you

In my view anything wintry we've had so is a bonus, certainly not a disappointment!

The action was never meant to start until later in the night.:-)

Glad you've got a couple of inches. Its all green and grey here despite some heavy snow showers around lunchtime. Its currently snowing but nothing sticking, very gusty winds.. the snow is very wet and not only light, some heavier stuff should do the trick.

North Cumbria has done well so far today, hoping we see a decent cover come morning. I note Kirkstone Pass is closed first time this winter, always a good sign!..

Radio 2  - road closures around Kendal - the A6 - also Shap down to one lane on the M6.

Ian

No surprise there the shap road is lethal. When it's just high winds. Throw a bit of snow in and its carnage. Stay safe driving round cumbria

Amazing streamer setting up on the radar. Southport, perhaps Manchester on for a battering....
