Snow that settles and then starts to thaw when the showers stop isn't my idea of a decent cold spell! Temp fell to 0.9c in the shower and is now on the rise, DP 0c. hoping for something better from the northerly, the uppers & dew points will be colder and looks like there will be embedded troughs in the flow at times enhancing the snow risk.

Indeed, although the Northerly looks like your standard affair with the dreaded wishbone effect, at least it will be sunny and frosty.

It's all fluffy white goodness here, the marginality has been crossed.  Just need the showers to keep up.

If your thinking of coming over the M62 from Yorkshire.... think again!...

Would you believe it, but it's the same in central Manchester - marginality definitely gone now - big fluffy flakes been coming down for around an hour now. Lots of ppn is still coming in from Irish sea, could be a very interesting morning!

Big flakes! Coming down giving a proper covering everywhere, does suggest marginality though from how big the flakes are! Come on hold on

The school run was fun.. woke up all sulky with no snow, got the dog and little princess ready for school and set out. Then *pooof* pup starts going mental at the flakes falling, I was a walking snowman as I ended up shielding daughter and dog as the wind picked up... It was great!!!

Sky starting to lighten now and so is de snow

Nice covering in Warrington. Any idea what's happening in Preston?!

At the moment nothing, a nice snow shower earlier, but the last couple of showers have been sleet at best.    Temp is on the way up, unless there is a drop in temp expected, sleet is probbly the best we can hope for today.

It just hasnt been cold enough here.

Snowing again lightly. Temp is dropping again, up to 2.1 between showers, now back down to 1.4°C.
