Slight covering here though it looks pretty wet on the ground. Still coming down, so fingers crossed it keeps coming!

Around these parts its not so much the snow that's the problem, it's yesterdays hail which has left a layer of ice beneath the 10cm of white stuff. In the village there's a jackknifed lorry on the roundabout off the A6 bypass, cannot be towed out currently because DCC hasn't got anything that can run in this weather other than gritters. The road is clear outside on the estate however, many people on the hill being sensible and either walking down to the train (which in itself has been sporadic in service) or having a stay-at-home day.

Its taken me two hours to get from Bacup to Bury, no grit anywhere, sheet ice all through Edenfield and Shuttleworth, buses skidded across the roads, lorries can't get up hills so just stop, cars just wheel spinning.

Luckily having 4x4 helped me but doesn't magic away the other vehicles!!!

Looking at the radar, looks like the wind is starting veer more NNW, pushing showers from further North rather than across from Ireland, maybe something to watch over the next few hours.

This wont last all day. At aome point before the low comes tonight wind will change to nnw and the low is introduced about midnight and could be heavy for about 6hrs. When i last looked last night the intensity was about 8mm/ph but thats in rain so about 8cm/php

Came on here to have a moan and everywhere's suddenly turned white.

Bizarre that it snows yesterday afternoon, rains at night and then snows again the following day.

Where exactly is that-I'm in South Liverpool and all we are getting is heavy grauple with hail

Yeah pretty sure here in South Liverpool is doing the worst with this snow event.

Just started snowing now though at least.

The radar is making me want to puke...loads of snow tracking just to the south of me in a streamer into manchester....missing me by about 10 miles....and it seems like its gonna be that way all day...i predict a good 5 inches for places south of blackburn..........no warnings from met office about a low tonight, so unlikely to happen, then a proper northerly sets in for saturday bringing with it the wishbone effect and dryness, and another slider on mon tue which will miss us....following that a possible easterly and more dryness.....CRAP.

That's one hell of a streamer of the Irish Sea through to Sale and S Manc - no wonder the Airport is closed.

Enjoy.
