Yesterday's total of 15.7mm takes this month's total to within 1mm of April's already.

Agree with Mapantz, blowing well, but not feeling too chilly, showers seem to be taking the same line as yesterday afternoon's did...to the NW of us.

Really pouring down at the moment and quite a trailing line of heavy showers from Wiltshire down through Somerset tracking ENE.

Further to the previous post, I had emptied my gauge when getting home from work at 11.30 and that line of downpours gave 11mm in less than half an hour!

Yesterday evening's forecast for today: "outside chance of a light shower in the afternoon".

Actual: second heavy rain shower of the morning with wind driving the rain against the windows.

What is the point of these forecasts when they are so inaccurate at such short range?

It's always the same when a LOW is departing to the N/NE, the showers left behind blowing in from the W/NW are underestimated in forecasts! Although I must say the modelling for them to come in off the Bristol Channel is far better than it used to be and sure enough a trail of showers was evident throughout the night and until late morning.

However it's set to be the first dry day of the month at home.

Looks like I'll reply to myself some 26 hours or so later lol !

A rather strange day today ; completely frontal dominated but the ground has never been more than patchily dampened by the showery light rain/drizzle. Much of what the radar shows is not reaching the ground from any of the 3 or 4 narrow bands which have moved through. Perhaps the strangest aspect is that the sun has shone brightly or hazily on several occasions which have been at the same time as it's been raining, however during the long dry spells it's been rather dull with thicker cloud.

If only that wind could have done one, today would have been very pleasant with lengthy sunny spells, over 8 hours of sunshine in fact.

I wish that wind would do one today too!  Temp is showing as 13.2°C at the moment, but it feels several degrees colder than that, add in grey skies and a definite mizzle in the air and it's pretty miserable.  :cold:

A pretty bland day, and like Lyn, there's mizzle in the air.

14.2C

According to forecasts, the next 4 days don't look like getting above yesterday's max temp.

Rather more than mizzle here, enough drizzle to dampen the ground! Dampened moreso than Friday's frontal day where almost all the rain died out!

Suddenly there is a hint of brightness, but I'm not going to look at it too closely for fear that it might go away again!
