Don't feel to optimistic about today, epic fail for last night as storms were supposed t get this far north, all we have this morning is a lot of cloud with some breaks in them.

You might not be saying that in a hour or so as cells have popped up out of nowhere and heading in your direction!

Winds are more from a NE direction this morning at least when the winds shift to a SW wind ill know the convergence has passed through and that the potential has shifted north! 14.1°C.

Playing the radar animation it looks as if a belt of rain could well hit these parts later. This agrees with the forecast although I take these with a huge pinch of salt as things tend to develop on the hoof.

Well, what a treat that was last night!

The sun doing it's thing now, and breaking through.

Currently 16.7°C and rising quickly.

Good luck for later!

My Netatmo app has just issued a level 1 rain warning..

Mapantz your 2 videos have whetted my appetite for more later!

It was a very quiet, warm night here although I suppose I could have seen lightning to the S/SW had I been at the window for a few hours. We had a sharp shower around dawn and another just recently ; will be interesting to see if it develops further as it edges WNW now the warmth is rising or decays like earlier showers.

The atmosphere feels ripe and it is rather oppressive when the sun breaks through

Feel slightly better now we have sunny spells, but still not feeling to optimistic.

I am skeptical we are going to see anything currently. Radar is picking up some showers but still bone dry here which i didn't expect looking at last nights forecast?

cloudy and mild but not as warm as i expected either. 17c

I know I have just put a jumper on here at home which doesn't bode well for these severe storms.  :cc_confused:

Finally hit 18°C but nowhere near the forecast of 22-24°C this mid level cloud has really knocked the temps back.

The famed Trowbridge rain shield is holding firm, would certainly welcome a couple of torrential t-storms today, fingers crossed

its crept up to 17.8c but rather a let down to be honest.

Has anyone seen a lightning strike today at all?

We had sweet nothing on the thorm front last night, not a flash or a rumble. :(   Rainfall total was 1.6mm to 09.00 GMT.  Looking at the radar before bed last night (around 23.00) it looked certain that we were in for a soaking at least.

Today so far, one very short lived shower, just about enough to wet the ground.  Temperature has not yet reached 20°C.

As suspected, not looking good for any storms, still the chance, but fading all the while.

You only have to go and pop outside to see it's not what it's predicted to be. Positively chilly again with that annoying wind back.

Certainly hasn't got that muggy humid feel about it

Up to 20°C here with a 16°C dew point. It is cloudy and drizzling.

Sat image keeps me hopeful.

Freezing here. 18c chilly wind and i've put my wooly jumper back on.

I have got my fleece back on too.

British summer is a joke and the hype over these storms has also been laughable.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
