Thunderstorms now kicking off in the bay of Biscay, I'm guessing this will be the area that will affect us in the southeast overnight into tomorrow?

Temperature still seems to be rising here at 32.2! spent a pleasant few hours at Lakeside and nearly got knocked off my feet by the heat when I came out. Not a great lover of heat myself but I am interested in seeing weather records get broken.

Edit: now 33.1. Can this be right at 7pm?

Winds have turned more SE rather than E from earlier which was pegging down the temps along the Thames Estuary. 35C at Gravesend at 18:00.

It shows how much variance there is in the UK when it struggles to reach 20C in NE coast while I'm still stuck at 33C. Edit: actually the temperature has risen 34C...

Hit 36c. I feel sorry for anyone who had to use the transport system today, especially London Scumderground :bomb: All you have to do is raise an eyebrow and you break into a sweat. I have had my feet in a bucket of ice cream since 5pm, it really does keep you cool. It is still 33.7c out in the shade and judging by the temperatures tonight, I may have to stick a Vienetta on my head. ;)

35C is the hot spot at the moment in Gravesend in fact this is the highest it's been all day, today was underestimated. To think today in London it has been warmer than Rio and Bangkok.

God I hate having a NW facing bedroom. It is boiling in here!!

The temp rising in Gravesend really shows the effect of that Estuary breeze. Highest temp of the day!

What a day! Incredibly hot in the centre of London where I work, and the Tube was horrendous!

Rumours going around that Brogdale recorded 37.5C.

Is that an official site? Unlikely imo because at the time of the July record being set at Heathrow, that area was nowhere near 37c.

Brogdale holds the official UK record from 10th August 2003, so I'm presuming it's an official site.

Bit of a bust NW England today I take it ?? Despite an Estofex level 2 ? Bay of Biscay is our only chance for something overnight / morning ?? These are questions not predictions btw :)

I wish! There's hardly a breath here. Sitting by the window sweating buckets.

Edit: gone done to 29.7 now.
