@bbcweather

Temperatures rising quickly this morning. Currently 29.4C at Kew Gardens. Alina

Gonna be very hot today with several hours of heating to go could 38c be hit?

I would be very surprised if 35c isn't hit now. The July record is on very shaky ground. But the all-time record? That will take some doing!

Crazy that the July record is (I would now say) likely to fall today but on the first day of the month of all times!

Heathrow METAR now reporting 31c, this will most likely have been rounded up, but wow.

I don't think the record will go.

Despite the warmth there's definitely more cloud today.

@bbcweather on twitter says Heathrow has hit 33oC. Metoffice twitter listing 32.5oC. 36oC now being projected this afternoon, July record looking vulnerable...

Temperatures have hit 33C in Heathrow, the #hottestdayoftheyear. Temperatures could yet reach 35-36C later. Chris F

The roof at Centre Court roof is currently closed to protect the playing surface from the heat and the air conditioning has been turned up to the maximum. It will re-open at 11.30am

Wonder if they'll close it this afternoon whilst the heat peaks

The committee at the All England Club have said that the roof will be open despite the heat, no chance of it being closed this afternoon :)

I think it's possible, but I can't help but feel that it is slightly artificial. What would the temperature at Heathrow be without London's UHI?
