Its a big downgrade from yesterday - any thunderstorms progged well after 5 I would think and can see that becoming very localised. Oh well its a familiar tale !

Is it just me or does the air smell odd? It's really sticky out there when there is no breeze. I can't describe it, but the air has this smell about it.

It's probably just me. In which case sos

It smells of kippers here! It's clouded over and the temperature has taken a tumble, it's only 23.4c :cold:

Such a shame it's so murky, of skies were clear would be some serious heating going on.

Dry, hazy sunshine and warm here, it's currently 25c, but there's hardly any humidity, only 35%.

Bit of a bust from media forecasts!  They were all going for storms for most of today. Looks like it will be early evening before anyone sees a storm

This is what i would be looking at.

There are clear slots making their way up to the east of the hulk of cloud.

That's the spirit, my man, that's the spirit. Curry night here in the Sparkicle household, with plenty of beer, of course. Going to try to do a cashew-nut curry. Never done it before, take-away menu in hand, of course.

With the power of beer nothing can go wrong!

I remember it well!

I made a post about that last week, supercells developed and passed over our area on that day. :)

I remember we kept golfball hailstones in the freezer to show to relatives!

Yes...yes it can....running drunk into an open area during a lightning storm swinging round a golfclub whilst holding an umbrella for instance :p

It don't matter if thunderstorms happen or not, if you got a load of beer, your goona have a good night. If your Mrs is with you or a girly.. Your having an even better night and tbh won't even care about the storms :D

Sorry I have a funny humor

Edit: then again, I think if I heard thunder outside and flashes I would turn to mu Mrs and say "this can wait" and go outside hahahahahah

Cloudy here all morning and currently 16C with the occasional light bit of rain, just wetting the surface. Hope it all kicks off this eve.

Just read the updated met warning reads to me like a bit of a downgrade unless I'm not reading between the lines

as the day has gone on so it seems has the storm risk and now we are not even forecast the heavy rain, not quite sure how the forecast could have been so wrong within a 24 hr window

Cloudy, muggy, with some patches of blue sky here. Just posted off the last of my orders for this week so I can get away with not doing any work today if I want, and I've stocked up on a bar of chocolate and hopefully I can nobble some brandy tonight- whether it's to drown my sorrows or toast a good storm, we'll have to wait and see!

I should add that we could really do with a good soaking, as we've been lacking in rain here the past couple of months, and it's starting to show with leaf drop and dry grass everywhere.

No coincidence that snow and thunderstorms are tricky weather types to forecast.

The low level cloud is not shifting at all here in Amersham, I was rather hoping for a little sun today

Yep, we've got moderately heavy rain, here in Newton Abbot, just 12 miles SW of Exeter. Looks like Brighton's about to get a good soaking too.

Dammit; lightningmaps has just cr@pped out.
