Bit blowy and gusty.... Some heavyish rain..... Its autumn.... Remember some of the storms in the 1990s where ni, scotland and isle of man recorded gusts in excess of 120-130 mph and rooves blown off, the waves on douglas prom innundating the prom with flooded basements, the airport sign flattened on the way to school and trees with huge trunks taken down.... Bit of overhype.... Obviously northern scotland 80-90mph gusts but its autumn....

Ps remember watching sky news in the 1990s when they said record on cairngorms was breached.... 160mph?

Sure will!! And as I mentioned earlier it's the 6 year anniversary of the 2009 floods... Although a repeat looks unlikely, the Met Office did mention a possibility of up to 200mm in some places so lets hope that risk diminishes!!  :help:

Yes all quite worrying and a very similar set up to Nov 2009 event. The reason why they are expecting such possible amounts is not only the duration of rainfall, but also the tropical airmass which will create ripe conditions for intense rainfall.

Sunday is looking a complete write off - a day for hibernating.

Just hope the rainfall amounts are being over-played by the models, but as you say conditions look ripe, it looks pretty grim and quite worrying! The fact the Met mentioned the possibility of an amber warning for rainfall then it shows how serious it could be.

Yeah, even after the rainfall Sunday/Monday that's not the end of it with still more to come through next week which will just add to the problems.

Looking at the BBC longer outlook. Helen seemed really concerned for nw England and Wales over the weekend 24 hours or more of rain. And the potential on 4 to 6 inches of rain :/

Yes just watched it.

It is looking pretty awful in the next few days. She also says theres another potential named storm next week.

Quite a few sferics within 50 miles. A big shower out to the west. Temperature dropping, currently 8.4°C. This is more like it!
