Yeah I reckon so, tbh though there's been loads of times the lickies are white and it's just wet here, you can see the lickies from down the road

Great place the lickies...When i was a wee nipper i used to go sledging up there and you can see the lickies from down the road......Lucky so & so :D

My Nowcast Moderate snow falling here....But too wet for it to settle...Well not yet! anyway :)

Some lovely Pictures out there folks :cold:

Yep, as I predicted earlier the main action has gone to the E of here. Dry, cold and breezy. But very good to see others getting some snow! Here's to more of the stuff for all of us over the next few months. :)

Widespread 50mph gusts tonight, even 60mph in the Central and East Midlands between around 5am and 7am. Unlike most, this storm will be most intense as it passes the Midlands. Unfortunately for snow lovers, any wintry precipitation will most likely be sleety or wet, perhaps more snowy in the West. Minimum temperatures will only be slightly above freezing, and maximum temperatures around 5C. This is just too high for snow to settle. On the upside, there is a chance of settling snow (even at lower levels) on Saturday/Sunday night.

Hi guys,,

Just been out to the car and there was a slight covering and the flakes were not wet. It stuck to the windscreen, but didn't melt straight away.

Strong wind making it feel bitterly cold and the temperature has now fallen  again to 1.8C.

Up and down like...     insert your own phrase.

Temp has now dropped to 1.5C and it seems to be sticking.

I think the dewpoint is critical as it has remained below -2.0c and is currently dropping again at -2.5C.

SO FOLKS, THE SNOW WILL STICK WITH TEMPS ABOVE FREEZING PROVIDED THAT YOUR DEWPOINTS ARE BELOW  FREEZING.

i HAVE JUST PROVED IT!!

Good luck everyone.

The earliest settling Winter snow I have seen in my life believe it or not. That's what I get for having spent most of my life in tropical Essex.

The snow here in Selly Oak:

Yep, definitely snowing here right now. Not a lot, and it's not settling, but hey it's ACTUALLY SNOWING!!!!

It's been so long, I'd almost forgotten what the stuff looks like.

And stopped again.

And according to the snow radar forecast it's going to stay to the west of the region.... Grump. Grump.

A good covering here in Quinton and back home in Stoke there is around 1-2CM, not bad considering it was raining earlier and we had temps of 13C at this time earlier in the week. Crazy!

Ferlippin' heck! Seen that band of rain/sleet/snow heading Southwards from Newcastle way? That is the main event we are all hoping will deliver some snow later but boy that looks potent! Hope it maintains it's intensity as it heads South :D

Snow stopped here again now after about 20 minutes.

No covering on grass or pavement, but some on the cars.

Looking out now what is surprising is that the clouds are racing from WNW to SSE still, the winds have not yet moved into the north west  or north east, so the best may still be to come?

It really does look spectacular seeing the low clouds racing past.

Latest shower- sleet and hail again. Quite heavy, so should have evaporative cooled to snow if it was cold enough- it obviously isn't. What's worse it's been completely cloudy since 11 ruining any chance of a frost.
