A very raw wet day here Currently 3c. Ploughing finished yesterday but a few turnips still to lift  next week as machine broke down last week and then we should be ready for winter.   Hoping for some light frosts to dry the ground up for neep lifting next week but its a fairly dry ground field so long as it is dry above it should work.

Dollar was greeted last night with a copious snowfall that fell around 21.30pm with the slightest accumulation down in Lower Dollar (45m). My friends drove up to Muckhart Road 100m above and there was a bit of frozen snow on grassy surfaces, it was freezing cold. Beautiful Ochils snow covered under the moonlight, shame it was not to last until the morning, as there was nae snaw under 500m and a cold cold rain soaked it all - shame as we would be enjoying winter wonderland if temps had been 3º lower.

So how bad is it meant to get tomorrow? Has it been a last minute upgrade for us in the N Central Belt then?

I am planning on going for a wee walk with a few friends tomorrow to the hills, where do you reckon that snaw level will be at and around midday?

Cheers!

Some heavy snow yesterday evening/ last night and everything white upon waking this morning. A milder spell around midday with heavy sleet/wet snow but the snow cover remained intact as I left this afternoon

Spending the night here in Skye visiting relatives, looks like a very snowy forecast back in Strathdearn, but got the snow capped Cuillins to marvel at instead, which makes up for missing out. Will still no doubt keep watch on the Slochd cam to see how things are shaping up back at home though, can't resist :)

Lots of heavy shower activity showing up on the radar out to the west but it looks likely to be mainly rain for low lying areas for now given the current temperatures (4.3c/3.4c for me). As colder air starts to move south over the next 24 hours things start to look more promising for more areas.

From this evening on the Eumetrain site, the MSL and Jet, tricky to read, it is at 80ms or 178 mph!

The coldest of the air entrenched later in the day.

850hPa temps look borderline in places so will be down to watching the radar and lamp posts.

At mid-day - huge range on the 0 isotherm, and fairly breezy further south.

Fingers crossed for folks, hope you get a wee blast of snow tomorrow, let's hope the advance of cold pool initiates earlier in the day.

Some  snow again this evening so we have a covering again currently 1.5c with a ground frost. Winter is trying to arrive.

I have an uneasy feeling about this winter as I think it may turn out to be very wintry. This is based  not only on nature observations with huge flocks  currently of starlings, pigeons, whooper swans  and  woodcock from Scandinavia but the fact that livestock farms in the north of Scotland have a lot of poor quality feed from last summer and a severe winter  would be the last thing we need and will probably get.

i dont know if its snowing or sleet outside here? but cars looks white so heres hoping likes

Just drove on the mate over Harthill and there was snow stuck on the signposts and snow /Hail on the lanes. Then turned off at whitburn and the roads were even more slushy, looks to be mainly the west side of Whitburn tho as the east didn't have much and no sign of anything up here.

After lunch the colder upper air should start moving south and may have an affect on the precipitation type for parts of lower ground across more central then southern parts of Scotland. Until then it's rain all the way. Currently 3.8c for me.

Chilly with heavy skies here and ground soaked due to a couple of cloudbursts last evening. 'Mon the cold!

Going to be good for those North of Central Belt snow shield.
