4.5C with moderate rain here at the moment.

To think, we'll be half way through winter soon!

So its a case of the METO & GEM vs GFS & ECM. From what I have seen the GEM has been pretty consistent with the METO following close suit. GFS is all over the place so I'm hoping the ECM is epic this evening!! I just don't have a clue what's going to happen. 90% of posts in the MT is speculation and s***e!! Lol. To me at the minute FI is about 48 hrs out. :wallbash:

aye. Important to remember that when the model thread throw their toys out of the pram it generally is in respect to what the weather is showing for the south. Could be completely different for us being a good bit further north, But I still don't see much snow for us yet im afraid

Am I right in thinking we look in a poorer position for this colder weather as the week progresses? What day/s are the best chance for snow for us? Milder uppers appear to be moving into Ireland by Thursday/Friday.

Good stuff but it's one run showing an easterly or has this been showing for a while? To me looking at the ECM charts would we not be better seeing a westerly shift in the high to benifit us or would we get some undercuts the way things are showing. Still plenty of change ahead giving the changes so far this week.

Would be nice for us all to see snow! Snow in the south at the minute. Is that the Wicklow Mountains?

Yes, that's Wicklow mountainous area... Couple of hundred metres ASL. And some buddies on Facebook that live there are confirming this with Nowcast!!!

It's absolutely bucketing down here, biblical thundery downpour, with the odd flake of sleet in it. The road outside resembles a small river at present. The Met radar shows a huge area of intensity of rain right over my house... 3.2 degrees at the moment. Wouldn't take much to turn this to snow... I feel! Shame, because the intensity would have meant a dump of snow!!! Havent had any since 2010!

I turn my attention away from from the forum for a couple of days and all this excitement happens lol. My own opinion is there's going to be a dryish child snap but no widespread low level snow. My fingers are crossed for wall to wall white outs though lol.

On another note I finally forked out and got rid of the good year efficent lack of grip stupid eco tyres on the car for some Dunlop winter tyres. The good years were almost dangerous on cold wet tarmac they are grand in the mild but below about 4 or 5 degrees it's like driving with bald front tyres it's unbelievable the difference a couple of degrees makes to rubber.
