Just went outside, it's bloody windy yet it is STILL comfortable t-shirt weather.

Oh stuff this, I can't maintain this "convincing myself I'm a mildie" rubbish!  I'm just hearing on the news that parts of Cumbria are flooding again, and that's before what they're due to get over Christmas!

It's turning into a right old 70s Winter down these parts.

Mild mild mild and wet wet wet.

One can only hope for a 78/79 turnaround. No hope! There's more chance of Bob Hope turning up!

Exactly, BB - it's all happened before...Did Hope and Crosby ever make The Road to Moscow?:)

The thing is Pete, it hasn't happened before. The record December CET is looking like being breached by over a degree (probably more like 1.5C).

This weather is unprecedented. We've never seen a winter month CET close to 10C before.

To me it's absolutely fine. Still in quite humid air which helps.

I'm fairly warm-blooded, but that's quite extreme, I'd have thought.  Still, must make thngs easier in terms of not having to wear as many layers.

definitely true Nick, more weight, less cold you feel, also in summer, less weight, hotter you are

It works for polar mammals, so you might be right!*

*Actually, if I recall my undergraduate days correctly, I think it's a different type of fat - more brown adipose tissue than human subcutaneous fat.

ECM has been near rock solid with consistency run to run, much rather see the ECM showing cold/blocked scenario vs any other model from the pack!

@I remember Atlantic 252 You're only 55kg that's like 8.5 stone? How tall are you?

5 foot 9, probably 56 then, 8 stone 11, actually exactly the same as Mo Farah

You are quite right, in terms of CET, reef (and I haven't joined the Piers Corbyn School of Marxist Climatology)...But, mild, cacky and snowless winters did occur in the early 1970s...:D

I'm not looking at the specifics re record CET.

I'm referring to the general weather yday, now and outlook i.e. mild.

Are you God? The GFS is well known for spotting a change of norm.
