We expect a bit more than that for e.g. Cotswolds... more coherent signal there for Weds AM in very latest UKV. Chief Forecaster has just amended forecast accordingly. Generally above 100-150m; shouldn't stick for long however. Some sleet/snow showers elsewhere in region too over suitable elevation.

Thanks Ian.

Those graphics that are used on forecasts for the ppn seem to break it up over the Bristol/ somerset area,  is that gap over central areas expected due to welsh mountains as it passes?

100m is not that high a few might get nice surprise then further east.

Watching the weather forecast 24hrs ago I was lead to believe we were going to have a dry day.. But no.. Shower after shower here today. It's currently bouncing down, freezing cold rain. I'm fed up now, when is it going to end? I want warmth and proper sun!

About an hour and a half, (maybe two hours ago) we had thunder, lightening and literally torrential sleet; it was really quite spectacular. Shame it wasn't just a little colder.

Just had a snow shower. Didn't stick but good to see. Conditions getting better for snow just not enough ppn about. See snow showers getting into Dorset now mind you its not widespread by any stretch.

Morning all,

Pressure currently 1019.55 and holding steady slightly over cast, but blue sky seems to be peaking through to my south east, sleeping patterns slowly turning back to normal as nothing to stay up for...

looking at the rain radar it looks like the welsh mountains have taken a very large bite out of the moisture, further east might see something.

Walked in a sleet / hail shower this morning with the dog, he wasn't overly amused I found it great!  As mentioned before we had the odd snow shower during the night. The showers were coming in on a north westerly flow but as the wind changed to a more westerly direction (at my elevation) snow showers turned into wintery rain/sleet/hail. Just shows how the smallest of changes can effect snow potential.

Think I saw a glint of white in the distance to the west when driving up the M5 to work - looks like snow has fallen on the Welsh hills at least. Must have stopped there because bone dry at home.

They have just about sucked the air dry, by the look of the radar.

Hi Fromey,

Had very heavy sleet shower yesterday afternoon here. Maybe some real white stuff will fall on us before the winter is out!

I think my towel is about to be thrown in to be honest i'll give it one more week to show great promise...

3 years and no winter to show it is awful! Even at elevation id expect a few white days by now.

Always happens although i find Bbc forecasts often underplay the mountains effect if anything as it was drier than a nuns whatsit by the time it crossed wales.

it will have to be something very special, trouble is that everything that shows promise is always 7+ days away.

but hey this is the British weather we are talking about, anything can happen.

Biting wind today but at least it was dry. Been digging the veg garden, heavy going to say the least as it's so wet but I can't see it getting any dryer in the foreseeable. Just had a fleeting sleet shower pass over at home.

Will I be needing one of these any time soon?
