Head over to the American thread Chris and get the live feed for the Blizzard over there if you want a live snow fix, just looked myself, feel even more depressed now lol

Yeah I was going too... but not sure if I can stand it thinking about what might have been.

Seems a bit OTT for tonight - the lowest temps I can find is maybe a few degrees above for rural areas with a touch of ground frost possible.

Anyway will also be keeping tabs on US blizzard storm to get my snowy fix for this year, even if it is on the other side of the Atlantic.

Thought the same myself earlier when I followed one up the road towards home.

it was showing 7c on the car thermometer at the time.

Nice to wake up to heavy falling snow this morning.

its just a shame that it's 3000 miles away and only visible on the TV and if that's not bad enough, we have the forecasters ramming it down our throats of how mild it is here.

oh and that the U.S. Storm will head over here on Tuesday with its associated wind and snow although by then it will be of the UK type known as rain.

never mind I'll take some positives out of the scenario in that at least my final bag of grit will last a bit longer  and we don't have certain north west presenters on at weekends so the chances of my foot going though the TV screen is less.

Even though I hate the word mild and everything associated with those conditions, I have to admit that today is not a bad day. Especially for a weekend day.

Meto warnings are out for Tuesday's storm which is looking to bring the threat of biblical rains and flooding back across the region.

Here we go again.

Hopefully and better still sod off up towards Iceland or south into Europe as it would if forecast to be snow.

still not bad today, fitted a couple of fence panels which have been out since before Christmas.

Cloudy, breezy & mild @ 10c. Looks like rain later this afternoon as that band over Ireland moves towards us, back to the usual wet & windy dominating theme of this winter.

Don't worry AO will wobble the strat will get its hot flush and we will have snow , it's just a waiting game:drunk-emoji:

I just hope it doesn't wait until March and April.

after last years cold spring and summer and constant rain for what seems like months, the last we need is another unseasonable season

sod it, time for a bottle of red.

Damp morning with low cloud and persistent drizzle, mild @ 10.3c. Very wet & windy week coming up so flooding will be a concern yet again!

One to watch for next weekend, the last couple of runs from

The GFS brings a deep depression to the far north of Scotland

Giving Blizzards over the Highlands and snow to lower ground

Over Scotland, following on a cold west to North west wind

Sets in givin g snow as far south as the Midlands on Sunday

As i say one to watch over the coming days.

Like your optimistic outlook CS. Hope you get some soon. Its always in the outlook and when it arrives, usually a total let down or downgrade. The Northwest must have one of the most dampest miserable climates in Europe. Born there and I know how frustrating looking for snow is at sea level anyway. However, the best snowfall I did ever witness in England occurred in Feb 1969 and yes Cheshire ! The polar low dropped 18 inches of level snow in Macclesfied, 15 inches in Knutsford/ Northwich area and closed Man Airport down. The day max was -3c at 8am and fell in the Polar Low to -7c at 4pm. The wind picked up on exit of the Polar Low and for a short time drifts built up to 3 feet in many parts of the Cheshire Plain.

In Tenerife it is sometimes called the land of the Eternal Spring/Summer depends where you are. In the north of Tenerife it rains all the time which is Spring. While in the south just sunshine which is Summer.

May as well call the North West land of the Eternal Autumn during Winter/Spring during Summer. I hope the models will upgrade the snow for next weekend. Models do have a tendency to downgrade we'll see.

HI Carinthian

Ah 1969 unfortunately i did not arrive in the world until 1970

Fully agree with your post, however its what the model is showing

And yes nearer the time frame something will go willies up.

I do belive that February will deliver, wether that's from the

N,NW,or East still to be decided, the strat is looking in good shape

And going by the experts in the strat thread and the met office

Things look like getting interesting as we enter Feb.

Now thats been optometrist  C
