Feeling much fresher today with the temp (15C at 08.00) down 5C on this time yesterday. As @Team Squirrel said earlier, yesterday brought the unusual combo of strong wind and high temps. It reached a high of 26.7C here with a top gust of 56 kmph (35mph).

The early blue sky and sun is just about to disappear this morning, as a bank of high cloud moves down from the north. And there's still a very gusty wind!

Aye, a much better feel today, BW...Five cooler, breezy days for much flat to cool down.

Well if the charts are to be believed, it's going to turn hot.. Very very hot

Wonderful :D Proper summer sizzler, I hope.

Feels cooler and fresher here today (just 39% humidity) at 22C currently with some sun but rather a lot of cloud. Not unpleasant though and much of this week should please those moaning about it being too hot.

If those people are moaning its to hot now and over the past few weeks god help them if the charts on this mornings runs pull through 34-35 degrees! Sheez!

It'll only be that hot for a day or two, if it does get that hot in the first place. I'm just glad we're actually getting a summer finally, and a long overdue decent August. Nice for all the millions of school children and people taking holidays in the UK. All too soon it'll be central heating on and wearing 3 layers of clothing, yuck.

Blimey! 12z GFS is a absolute belter if you want it hot! Best charts in August for years. Can't wait for Surrey's reaction lol...

Snow is appearing in some models:ninja: just saying:p:whistling:

Haha! Funny you should say that lassie! I was catching up on the BBC/Met Off forecast this evening and in his opening remarks, John Hammond said snow had fallen on the tops of the Scottish mountains today! So despite it being August, Scotland has so far this month recorded a frost with an overnight low down to -1C and snow on the peaks. And probably another ground frost in the Glens tonight.

If anyone's interested, Hammond's comment is at the beginning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast-video/21416743

Just had a heavy shower here, no lightning or thunder in it though, didn't even realise showers were forecast for today.

Cloudless skies for our Region to start. But after the last few days of warmth this morning's 9C felt decidedly chilly!

Cloud Tues09Aug 07.45.jpg

Looking forward to the return of the warmth by Friday. Carol on the beeb has just said the Met Office currently expect it to be short lived, breaking down by mid next week with thundery showers - but she stressed this was current thinking and being a week away could change.

Certainly the GFS has downgraded the warm spell overnight with the 850 hPa 20C isotherm only just grazing the South Coast and the warmth swept away East by Thurs/Fri. ECM is better, with the 20C isotherm over our Region for a day, but it too sweeps the warmth away by Thurs/Fri. I for one won't grumble if it's a few days of heat and then a good thundery breakdown! :)
