Just now, Deep Snow please said:

I'm sorry but if this had fell in the south it'd have been named. As bad as Angus, for sure.

Absolutely torrid winds and rain for hours now.

this is Barbara, Angus was nothing, agree though about the south

That was some serious rain and winds while it lasted.

roads flooded all the way from Haslingden to Bacup and as I got higher, the unusual site of snow washing down the road at home.

no wonder the EA have a flood warning out for the Irwell in Bacup centre.

Looks like the race I was marshaling over the weekend had a close-escape with this weather system today, finishing at Marsden and would have crossed over the now-flooded (in parts) Woodhead Pass. Aside from the rainfall and winds the flooding has been exacerbated by the lying snow on the tops of Kinder, Bleaklow, Saddleworth, which was knee-deep in places only yesterday.

Passed through Saddleworth, Stalybridge, Glossop only yesterday and what a difference 21 hours makes looking at the pictures coming out..

I find it unbelievable that this low was not named, thus people (especially drivers) would have taken it more seriously, if naming is based on the impact it has. It was a loong time ago that I have seen that much continuous rain in a day here, not mentioning the wind. Oh, it did not affect that much the SE, maybe this is why it was not named...Storm Angus affected a smaller part of the country. ...but I have (almost) never heard the METO admitting their faults.
