Hello folks, are you not getting confident about this upcoming cold snap, surely you guys could do well with Irish Sea streamers etc?

Confident about getting snow if the cold snap arrives but little confidence in it actually arriving.

so many let downs over recent winters and this one isn't shaping up any better so I'll sit on the fence until I see snow falling.

  • I really am, especially as i'm in a great place where the cells come ashore but I got too excited the other week and jinxed the last potential so i'm waiting until <T48 before going on a ranp lol.
  •  Can't get rid of the stupid bullet! Bring back the days of text early editors.

It's nice to see much of the region under a Met Office severe weather warning.

i went on in excitement expecting to see us under a threat of torrential drizzle and life threatening mild temperatures but in the end it's just plain old fog.

ah well maybe the end of next week will show the threat being bitter cold and heavy drifting snow..........we live in hope.

Still looking good for snow for all of us in this region, anyone above 200M should get absolutely plastered in the stuff, significant depths of snow.

I'm wary of charts like this as GFS tends to exaggerate snow amounts & closer to the time they tend to downgrade! I am going to wait a few more days before getting my hopes up.

Blimey with the ECM it's upgrades all the way... snow on the ground in most areas lying in situ for the foreseeable.  Still plenty of time for it to go pete-tong... indeed we all know it can even on event day itself... but the signs are looking promising as of now for a real taste of winter towards the end of next week.

If it verifies by Tuesday I'm gonna be confident it is gonna happen.

Still not believing it just yet., Fingers crossed that snow showers/longer spells of snow will stick around by then!! :)

Could anyone tell me what the thicknesses and 850 temps were on the legendary 17th Dec 2010? I can't remember. :)

So then. Looking forward to radar and lamppost watching next week. This is the coldest time of year, couldn't be happening at a better time.  Looks like  -8 uppers. Hope it's not going to be a marginal slush fest with all those that live at elevation sat grinning at the rest of us.

Well its looking more and more interesting for thurs into fri for our region.A very fast unstable airstream looks set to deliver plenty of precipitation esp through Thur and there could well be quite a bit in the way of snow.Too far out to be confident but almost anywhere could get clobbered!

Only messing. Let's hope we ALL see some snow this time. Even us on the coast, Wirral, Liverpool have a ' decent' chance.

Thurs/Fri could be busy in here :cold::cold:

Been quite a bit of mist and fog recently, they say it sometimes comes before decent snow, we shall we.

Hope they're right but it's not looking good for a UK wide event and there are a few toys being thrown out of prams on the model thread.
