At the very least, its nice to be within a shout, even if it doesn't produce the goods for the South coast, as an example. 'A' chance is better than no chance at all. A very good chance the further inland you are, though. JC_doubleup.gif

If they (METO) are uncertain then I don't think it's going to happen

The met office matrix thingy says it's unlikely the rain will turn to snow. I just think the possibility of a dusting of snow doesn't really warrant a warning. I think some of the forecasters may have learned their ramping up skills on the MAD thread!

I think it's going to be too marginal on Thursday.. but there's a risk of more showers on Friday that would fall as snow.

I think that feature is our best hope and chance of something, those showers will do nothing away from Exmoor and Dartmoor the occasional 3 min light flurry making it past wales maybe.

Meto highlight that risk too by putting a warning up.. I dont see any warning for fridays showers.

Sleet for mid afternoon showing here on Thursday from Met office now. Was snow and sleet from 12-6pm when looked at Met office site early hours of this morning.
Still lamppost watching is the best of fun.

Saw this yesterday on Gav'sWeatherVids podcast;

I'm preferring the warning and meto app forecast at the moment because it's an advisory and sas its marginal.

this means snowmageddon.

reverse psychology.... will it work?

I can see nothing but sleety rain for our area as the conditions are too marginal for lowland urban areas like Bristol.

However, those like Mullender (or whatever he calls himself nowadays, lol) with some altitude on their side could make all the difference, with some snowfall distinctly possible.

Long way to go in terms of PPN distribution still anyway, with the north/south element still to be deciphered too.

FWIW, both the Arpege and WRF NMM models have the "wave" running through the channel, missing all but the beaches of Dorset & Hampshire;

If anyone is heading to Cambridgeshire over the weekend though, the 06z Arpege models some snowfall over there;
