Thank you both, it will be interesting to see what the models say in the next 24 hours. A slight shift in the wind direction will make all the difference between snow cover or just dry for inland areas.

I seem to recall a good one in early January 2009?

I must have got rain then as I don’t remember that. I remember getting some snow off an Easterly in the first week of Feb that year though.

The latest Met Office further outlook is the best I’ve read in years. They have been getting better all week. Sounds like classic battleground situation next week, usually do well from them here.

It would be nice. Think it will be a bit too marginal until early hours of Friday but at least there is a chance of thunder and hail which I love as well.

Its hard to say at the moment, all depends on the wind direction, if its WNW you and me should be OK, if its NW, then the showers will probably go south of us two..

Well sunday still holds some interest for higher parts of the region IMHO-

Just looking at elevation finder and Frosty ground did you know the KIngs Arms top of rippy road stood at

339m (1100 feet)- i rather think its going to be a very very snowy scene up there by sunday night !!( might go for a meal)

Yes think both higher parts of Oldham and the peak district will do amazingly well with a bit of luck - esp sunday, really thinking you will need 300 m + tho..still, for all those near the peaks or oldham, sunday/sunday night could be blizzard conditions.
