Personally living in Cumbria (south lakes) I can tell you we won't. Been here so many times before we will either miss out completely or get a minuscule amount to everyone else. Past experience has taught me to expect to be let down.

No these type of set ups do deliver the goods to south cumbria, frontal systems moving in from the west into cold air, if conditions are right, can bring the heaviest snowfalls to these parts. Better still if the front stalls and pivots, many many times. Last time we had such an event was 16 Jan 2016. Places near the coast tend to see more marginal conditions though and much of the coastal part of south cumbria is low ground, but you don't need to venture to far to the north and the snow can be decent. We shall see, there is every chance the front may slow down somewhat and the colder air dig its heels a bit more, meaning less chance of it turning quickly to sleet or rain.

Down to 3.7°C now, a good sign as I say. A nice head start before the wind backs.

Thats good news!!

My non digital thermometer is saying 0c, so either way it seems a little colder than forecast. I was a bit worried when it reached 7c around 4 hours ago. These clear skies need to hold on for as long as possible to let the temps drop as much as possible.

Fingers crossed. It’s the first positive thing for snow from this pre event!

2.2c now so its dropping quite quickly

I see your point, however.. and my experience suggests it is often cold to start with on clear nights, but it gradually becoming warmer through the night. But then that could be the issue of living on the top of a hill rather than anything else.

Tbh I foresaw this happening.

Still 3.7°C here but when you have light winds you only need a slight distance from the coast to lose the influence of the sea. The lighter the winds, the less distance from the coast you need.

irrelevant later on as winds back off-shore anyway.

-1oC on my weather station and the car. Sheet Ice everywhere following a brief snow shower which gave a covering.
