Given the uppers not that special, high cloud will raise the temperatures ahead of the band.. there is no inversion so temperatures will not keep falling when high cloud spills in. Therefore I would expect it to be rather marginal for coastal areas when it reaches here

Well if the apps are to believed you'll be building an ark not a snowman.

I'll be watching areas to my west like a hawk, although i fear i may have to set my alarm very eary- the front looks like crashing in before 5am !!

If it rains here at 198m asl then you with 200m asl will get the same..

I'l give you a shout when it's over my head lol

The 18z gfs has a slight correction south but it still doesn't show anything wintry for the south of the region.

As mentioned before though, the gfs had the last two events way too far north.

Cloud racing in over Wales. Be here in about two hours I imagine, to ruin the temp drop.

Yes every little bit helps!!

Looks like the front will hit land around 4am ...

Do i go bed now and wait to be woken by the rain lashing against the window ?

TBH it would be nice to see snow but knowing it will be washed away within a few hours doesn't provide me with much excitement.

A reflection of how desperate its become really. :(

Almost as many members in the Northwest thread as the model thread tonight.

just hope that they’re not all online ordering a 100 mile southerly correction to tomorrows system although after the last couple of weeks, I can’t see there being any left in stock.

If anyone watched the beeb forecast earlier, the first front over the Southwest and Wales will fizzle as the main band currently over the west of Ireland steams in.

But the wind is backing in the meantime off-shore so that should negate that somewhat and we should get a surface inversion hopefully.

Yep as I said I’m definitely not expecting any snow here. :-)

If the majority of model output is wrong, and we somehow manage to scrape a dusting then I’ll see it as an unexpected bonus. Very unlikely though - have lived here a long time and I’ve never known this type of situation (rain preceded by snow) to deliver here.

You never know Joe -

Fingers crossed you get a few hours of decent snow- gawd knows we deserve to see some falling snow at the very least.

Yes temps well below zero here now- you can see the blues on Raintoday in areas close to the pennines/peak district.

Only problem is that most of it will have fallen before we get up.

could be an interesting journey for anyone working in the morning though, my missus included.

for me I can just go out and become a kid again.....where’s the sledge.
