I feel you are in a prime slot ian- esp with that altitude- possibly a good 10cm for you :)

Hope so but looking at the speed that the front is forecast to pass through, it’s gonna take some seriously heavy snow to give the totals the Met O are going for.

just a thought to anyone with more knowledge than me, what’s the chance of any sort of slowing or stalling taking place or is it just going to race through into Yorkshire.

I’m not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but this is the 12z arpege - soon to be updated.

Looks good for many in the NW. only really Manchester that misses out - presumably the model is factoring a UHI effect http://modeles7.meteociel.fr/modeles/arpege/arpegeuk-42-20-0.png?28-17

I may be wrong, but im thinking the meto think the front will slow down as it approaches the pennines- iv'e seen precip pep up massively when it approaches this area (admittedly that is almost entirely when its rain)but i imagine the same will apply- cotton mills were built in this area for one reason- its very damp!

Bit disappointed the front looks like hitting around 4am- i do like to see falling snow - was hoping it would hit around 7am but looks like i will have to set the alarm for 6 now...im certainly not doing an all nighter!!

The 18z Aprege has just rain for the Greater Manchester area and also for places to the west. This is quite a downgrade from earlier output.

Yep this chart shows it quite well too. http://modeles7.meteociel.fr/modeles/arpege/arpege-42-13-0.png?28-23

Still, not long to wait now.

At this stage it’s best to stick to the radar and look at your dewpoints. I strongly suspect it’ll be a full rain event for us, maybe some initial sleet.

Looks like rain here 7am or it may have even blown through by then judging by the latest TV forecast.

+20 hours might explain where the quick totals are sourced from.

1.3°C, falling even quicker. Need to get some sleep now if I’m getting up at 4 AM.
