We have -2c to start the day. The ice on the road outside the house is thick to say to least….all the thaw run off from yesterday has frozen overnight so it’s like a frozen river. Looks like we’ve had some extra hail fall overnight too.

We had a slight dusting of snow in Barnsley yesterday but most of the white is frost that hasn’t shifted in shady areas for 3 days now.

Overnight low was -3.1c and at 9.45 still -1c.

Outlook appears to be mainly dry inland although coasts still have a chance of catching a shower or 2 over the next few days.  Next opportunity for our region for slightly more wide spread snow showers is looking like Wednesday .

Harmonie showing there is a risk of wintry showers into our region spreading from the West tomorrow.  Arpege and Arome also show but not quite to the same extent.

A dry day and the dusting of snow has remained on the grass and pavements. Surprisingly as the temps nearly reached 3C. Would have thought shaded areas only.

Time to raid the grit bin.

At least its not like Dec 2010. Woke up to a 4 foot drift in the middle of the road. Myself and my neighbour cleared a large section of our road while the rest of the neighbours did bugger all.

I agree. The cold is boring without snow. It makes the cold just seem pointless and a lot less enjoyable 😂

I must be getting old because I would now prefer mild 10c days in winter than 0c with no snow.

I do love the chase though of will it snow, but when it doesn't does leave an overwhelming feeling of disapointment lol

Ah that's bit better lol. You will do worse in marginal set-ups but better in a northerly/north easterly from showers.

I am pretty sure this cold spell isn’t over yet?let’s see what next week brings possibly Wednesday onwards a chance of snow and no real breakdown insight. Possibly there could be a few showers later tonight and tomorrow for some parts of Yorkshire to. Cold and ice days definitely better than wet and mild , oh winter has only just started to ❄️

This is shaping up to be the most anti-climactic cold spell ever for us inland especially! Northerlies are so disappointing, and then we have a week of low pressure on top of us with not a cloud in the sky 😭

Compared to cold spells of old it's not even really a notable cold spell.

I’m enjoying the sunshine and lack of rain. Also some absolutely stunning night skies - the kind of night skies you only get on cold winter nights.

I wouldn’t mind sunny 10C weather but let’s be honest - that’s not what we’ll get, is it? It’ll be rainy, cloudy, windy, miserable 10C weather instead, because this is the UK, and our normal winter weather is some of the most depressing rubbish you’ll find anywhere on this planet.

I like snow as much as most on here but there’s so much more to the weather than just snow. There are few things more beautiful than a stunning frosty winter landscape illuminated by dazzling sunshine - it’s a shame that some of you are unable to appreciate it!

I agree that a frosty sunny day is nice at this time of the year. But snow covered landscapes are better. We don't often get cold like this, so if it ends up being snowless, I will be highly disappointed, as I'm sure will most on here. Ain't gonna apologise for that.
