Ah, I'll have to check then, maybe it was falling snow earlier than I remember! Looks like we've still just beat it then

Yeah tonight's slushy freeze won't be fun will it!

No it won't. Don't get me wrong, I love ice and snow but I went flying on some black ice one night between Christmas and New Year last winter. Still scarred by it. Mostly out of embarrassment!

Yes the first falling snow was on 4th December I believe. The first lying snow was 29th December. So we're doing better than last year so far, if you're of a cold persuasion!

No snow to report but the wind causing some issues, seen two trees on top of parked cars locally 1 in filey & 1 in scarborough!

Just been out for some logs to the shed and seen the big old tree at end of my lane has lost its main limbs, farmer out there now with loader gathering it up!

Good pics guys! Just rain at Heathrow haha!

Bet it's all melted by time I'm back in Rotherham

Earlier first snow than last season anyway for most, think that came a few days after Christmas last year!

Its all but melted already down here in East Dene, weren't that much anyway apparently.

Driving home from work at Ecclesfield there's a massive difference across our region, just a few hundred feet higher at Thorpe Hesley there's several inches but hardly anything once you get down to bottom of Wortley Road near town.

Melting fairly rapidly here, good start to the season it has to be said, can't remember seeing this amount of snow in late November before!

With maybe the exception of 2010 of course?

Another met office snow warning fail for West Yorkshire. Baffled as to why the Midlands and South had a warning for the same band of snow that we got, and yet nothing for here? Was nice to see a full on Blizzard at 4am anyway, no idea how deep it was, certainly wasn't going outside to measure it! 20211127_072553.thumb.jpg.52346867631593ef9a43e3cb2b1e0a73.jpg

Lincoln has been a bit too far east, it's been rain and between 3 and 5C for most of the day today.

Sleet again near Fridaythorpe now and the temp has fallen to 2.5°C ……. Would expect snow on the top of the Wolds later this evening

Still rain here on 'lower' part of the Wolds and still very windy, plenty of branches to gather up tomorrow for

Just been round to my brothers to move a wardrobe, rain has stopped but the wind is doing a bit of damage to few of the big old trees in Village,

Local radio is reporting significant roof damage to quite a few properties in Scarborough, reports of 'flying tiles' and holes being opened up, several roads have been closed in the town centre due to this. The first train of the day from Bridlington to Scarborough finally made it up the coast at about 2.30, I think it has eased slightly since lunchtime but still very windy here.

Drove all the way from Sheffield to Manchester airport this morning. Nightmare of a journey given the much heavier than expected snowfall. Opened the curtains and had one of those surprise moments that most of you will have had at some point no doubt.

As the trans pennine routes were closed I had to venture up the M1.
At home in Sheffield there were approximately 8-10cm. Even lower parts of the city had a 5cm covering. The worst affected area was around Sheffield / Barnsley. It cleared soon north of Barnsley.  There was gridlock between j34 -j37 = took 3 hours! Manchester was clear and green!

The M62 summit also had a healthy covering but it soon receded on the decent.  Manchester was clear. 5 hours late to pick up the Mrs - clearly disappoint she was!
First  pics of my local area and the 3rd is on the M1 Northbound J37.

Rain for most of the day in Lincoln, but turning sleety now, some flakes blowing about in the wind, temperature at the University down to 1.9C.  It's one of those where the precipitation is likely to die back to the coast before it gets cold enough for lying snow, but there could be some wet snow before that possibly.

Still not quite cold enough to settle yet (1.2C) but some proper fluttery snow in the last 10 minutes.

A slight dusting accumulated on the grass and cars over the past 10-15 minutes as the temperature fell further to 0.8C.
