A bit frustrating over the past couple of hours, a steady stream of snow showers just to the east of here, with just light flurries, temperature below 1C so if we caught the heavier stuff it would probably settle.

According to Harmonie and NMM the same areas around South Yorkshire could be the sweet spot again for an hour or 2 of snow this afternoon.  Arpege and Arome have the precipitation at tad further west, so would be mostly over pennines/Manchester.

Was not expecting this, 6.30am this morning. Its unusual to get laying snow at the coast this early in the winter as the North Sea is still warm.

Welcome to the party.

First air frost of the year here I wonder if the snow will last the day here.

Lively blizzards all evening here in Boston, Lincolnshire. Frozen and still freezing and roads like a skating rink at 6am as no gritting was done. A nice covering on the grass and a good depth on the cars. Dogs enjoyed it.

To me this blob of activity, is a lot bigger, quicker and more organised than modelled. A long way to travel so may lose intensity but it starting to look like a band of precipitation.

Met Office is probably using the raw model data, BBC interprets and includes live observation.

It may also simply be that the BBC update is more recent.

Note to anybody in the area, we require a report from the Skipton area if possible.

Yep, met office had rain for here on Friday night and there was a covering of snow. This isn't the first time that has happened either.
