Its the same here but looking at the radar it'll be gone within the hour and whatever has fallen will have melted by morning.

Compare and contrast to the meto forecast going for heavy snow till at least 9/10am.

Very light covering on cars and astro turf in back garden. Abit like ice pellets now. Started about half ll so technically a white Xmas in kendray,Barnsley.  Could have been a lot better according to charts last week but that's gone now. Merry Xmas everybody. On to the next chase .

Definite increase in depth since I last took that photo.

Ahh so close! It was due to start at 2300 too!

White over here, however it seems to be a lot more sleety now compared to earlier.

I had £3 on at odds of 6/1 Christmas as been completely ruined.

I put £10 at 8-1 for xmas day snow in London last week when it was looking very promising. I dont regret making it.. a couple of hundred miles difference and I would have been in!! A fairly decent, but very wet covering here in west Leeds! I'm not sure whether it came before midnight as I was asleep!

Just a bit of sleet at the coast, but a grey horrible morning, 5c a strong E wind, just light rain, and very dull. What a change from yesterday.

A few flakes of snow yesterday around lunchtime and have woken to a slushy covering of snow this morning and now raining. The green of the grass is now showing through at around 120m however up the hiil it still looks white but cloud base looking at around 150m so difficult to see.

So technically a white Xmas but not a classic. However how many Xmas days have been white? Thinking back to being a child of the 70/80s very few were white and many were mild.

Was a bit of sleetiness in the rain when I woke up at 2:30am but other than that it's been raining constantly for hours. Would have been epic if we'd had the cold air in place as promised by the MOD thread this time last week! Don't know if there was any snow earlier in the night but there was nothing on the ground.

Ah, Blakey Ridge is always a good one if snow comes down on the Moors.  We are back staying in Hutton again in the first week of Feb so looking forward to seeing some of this!

Wet, Windy & Mild over the next 7-10 days oh excited (NOT)!!!!!

cmon we want cold, snow, frost, it's winter!

I wouldn't take that as gospel.  In my experience weather outlooks can and do change within 48 hours of been put out.  I suspect that what they are forecasting now won't be the same come Friday. There is a lot going on up there right now which is creating a lot of uncertainty even among the professionals.

Sadly nothing cold on the horizon for the next 10-14 days.  Temps are likely to be more like spring from Wednesday this week, with Thursday probably the mildest day currently looking at around 14 degrees for some parts of our region.  Following that, a slow trend down over the following week or so but with South Westerly winds likely to dominate for a while we are likely to get a mix of some sunny periods but also some rain or showers particularly in the west.

I think I’ll take a break from the models and the forum for the next 10 days, then see what it looks like at the end of the first week of Jan.
