Lunchtime bike ride produced a stiff SW yet again. As well as dry this year seems to have been very windy. Ground is now bone dry and rock hard, we have missed nearly all the rain here.

Certainly dry! had a day off today from my day job and spent the day helping set up a vintage agricultural working weekend, i was 'topping' a couple of paddocks (grass about 18 inches high) for visitors car parking and the dust i was creating on sandy land next to the A64 at Sherburn got a bit concerning at times, had to go bit steady 😁

A glorious start to the day on Wolds today. A pleasant 18c, mostly sunshine first thing but the clouds are blowing over now with the strong breeze. It’s our annual flower & veg show today & I’ve entered my first professional category- just taken over my dahlias. Not holding out much hope as they’ve not grown well in the recent heat. It’ll be interesting to see how well other flowers and the veg have fared this year with the extreme heat. Then this evening I’m off to the Proms at Castle Howard (NY) where sensibly they’ve cancelled the finale fireworks due to the fire risk to the surrounding grounds (I’m not a fan of fireworks anyway 😏). Hope you all enjoy your weekend 👍🏼

Yes another breezy day, been battling with a wasps nest under the eaves, which I need to clear before next weekend as all the wood underneath the upvc facing is rotted. I am replacing it. Wind was blowing wasps around, and the killer foam. Finally got to the nest, not sure if wind helped or hindered to be honest.

Looks like we will get some rain in the night

The rain lost most of its intensity by time it arrived here shortly after midnight, managed a whopping 0.2mm.

The rain forecast late last night didn’t seem to materialise here either. Some lovely skies over Castle Howard in the evening but the cool strong breeze made for a ‘nithered’ evening (but nothing a few layers, hot chocolate & hot donuts didn’t help - we know how to live the high life😆). Today is another clear & sunny start, currently 22c & feeling much warmer in the sun. The breeze is lighter today so no chill factor.

A few pics below from another Working day, stunning weather and absolutely ideal, nice and warm without yesterdays breeze! Last 2 pics were home time after another long day with the field cleared!

As has often been the case this summer, a forecasted wet and average day has turned out dry and rather warm.

We had a brief shower that dropped 0.2mm mid-morning but it's now brightened up and hit 25.1C. The forecast was for 21C.

Fairly moderate/heavy rain for the last couple of hours here. Loving this lol. Set to clear in an HR or so.
