May see some met office warnings appear for tomorrow and Sunday, most likely yellow saying a mixture of rain, sleet and snow, and ice.

As if by magic the warnings have just started being issued!

Can't see more than a sleety mix imby for tomorrow. Current met forecasts seem to back that up.  Sunday looks like one of those occasions where the low tracks to the south of here. Dumping a load of snow all points from a line of the m65 south. Remains to be seen what actually happens .... But tomorrow would be our best chance imby and I'm not sure it's going to be cold enough here.

Looks like met don’t think it will get this far north on Sunday

If it reaches this far north it looks a bit 18th Jan 2013 esque South & West Cheshire, Merseyside & I think even Wirral did pretty well but it didn’t get any further north than Manchester. The West Midlands got a pasting.

An area of rain will cross the west and southwest of the country on Sunday morning and turn readily to snow as it spreads eastwards, and also lead to some icy surfaces. Mainly 1-3 cm of snow accumulation for most parts, but possibly 5-10 cm over 100 m with a small possibility of 10-15 cm over high ground for example on Dartmoor, the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia. These snow amounts will cause some disruption to transport, especially on routes that cross even modest high ground.

Pis-sed off

The Met didn't forecast the good 6-7cm's we got the other night so I'm not too concerned about the areas they think will and will not get any snow.

This is a very good point though....

Sunday's event is two days away, and yet people are writing it off already as if it's set in stone? Things could easily shift by 50-100 miles either way yet.

Warning issued for later today and tomorrow for snow showers. 1-3 cm possible on low ground, 5-10cm possible higher up.

If that low can just get 50 miles further north on Sunday and add to Saturdays snow we would be quids in.

Interestingly, Met write off Wales southwards and coasts for tomorrow. Spells out marginality to me.

Its also two days away for the people who are expecting snow, we cant have it both ways, if its ok to get exited about snow a few days away its surely ok to be sceptical too.

Of course its two days away and can change, but very few people say that when anyone is getting exited.    Some people are always really hopeful some people always very cautious, there is room for both.
