No posts for nearly three weeks! Me thinks we will be getting a bit busier soon.

The SSW and MJO aligning to hopefully give a bitter spell early March.

Hopefully if it comes it doesn't go much later into March or April, not a fan of cold springs ☹️

Agreed, the first couple of weeks of March is about my limit, but this would do nicely!

I hope we can get some snow next week.

It's looking similar to December at the moment, with very little snow this side of the Irish Sea.

I thought the ECM would deliver some to us, but even on the ECM England gets much more. It is looking like a short - lived cold spell anyway. Maybe we will get another crack at it after mid month.

Looks very very poor for Ireland.  Cold and dry mostly. 😪

The GFS model that has some snow about next week. The ECM looks largely dry but we do get a snow to rain event. I hope that would change to an all snow event if the milder air is kept further south, but it's fine margins as always. Also if we get snow at night it should stick. We need lots of cloud cover too during the day. It's just a great pity this was not happening 4 weeks ago so we would not have to worry about melting snow.

As you say, snow much further West on the GFS..

Just from my experience, precipitation charts at that distance are pretty useless, we'll know 3 days or so before hand. Fingers crossed for us all!

Interesting week coming up, kicking off tomorrow night into Tuesday with temps down as low as -5, Tuesday into Wednesday temps down to possible -7, snow forecasted and a generally chilly week 🥶

Parts of the country could get a proper pasting based on the 18z 🤭

A GFS run 3 days ago showed us getting heavy snow Tuesday. Not to be trusted.

The Met Office forecasts look underwhelming.

Believe it when I see it but some suggestions of a bit of snow for most of us come Friday

Yes, after the disappointments of Winter just past, until it falling outside my window, I won't believe it. The overnight GFS has continuous snow for over 48 hours!

The GFS 6z is terrible. An hour of snow later this week before turning to rain quickly.

If the 12z follow this, then we're stuffed.

The Mat Office have however given us a weather warning for snow showers.

Yea looks like somewhere is likely to get a pasting but from experience of being 10 miles the wrong side of a stalled front in these complicated set ups  I'll try and lock up my excitement until I see it out the window

And don't forget the dreaded ' rain at low levels with snow over high ground '.
