Laying in bed and can hear it pouring rain...doesn’t encourage me to get out of bed to work

Seems very up and down in the mod forum as usual. SSW doing it’s thing and confusing everyone and all the models!

Temp 4.2c, DP 3.4c

On my journey across the Surrey hills this morning from Bordon to Horsham, Hindhead and Haslemere were the only places to have any light dusting of snow on the cars and grass. Was good just to be driving through the snow to be honest.  Seems for now we are clutching at the tiniest of winter straws.  Still early on in the season with plenty of opportunity ahead though.

Just taken a walk round the block - as you can see there's a slushy covering. Usually the wooded landscaping here is pretty in the snow but it's been washed off the twigs and branches already. Apart from the snow what's conspicuous is widespread waterlogging, the ground is really sodden here atm

It's turned wet here in Ely but no snow to report, just spots of rain unfortunetely. Looks like further inland and with elevation it is snow though... maybe with any heavier PPN?

We had bout 2cms in the garden but having walked up the hill to Old Coulsdon and there is around 3-4cm's up there (about the same as Nick F and about the same elevation as well just a couple of miles away). This then turned to sleet and now rain. it's  a bit of a slushfest out there at the moment. It does at least count as my first lying snow of winter though. hopefully everyone will get some before winter is out.

Congrats to those of you up hills that have some of the white stuff. Here in Southend I am pleased to report I can see chinks of blue sky and finally after nearly three days the incessant rain streamer is stopping. Good news for those of you further South West of me, it’s coming to an end as the wind is beginning to edge more Northerly!

If only this was all snow. We'd probably have a foot!....fine margins and all that.

Anyhow, nice to see some white stuff for a lucky few in the region, get out and enjoy it quick!!

Will be nice to have a few dry days ahead now, perhaps even a frost or two. Might even see that orange looking ball in the sky at some point.

What a great picture. Sums it up perfectly. 150-200m makes all the difference!

Crikey I’m looking outside in Reigate can’t see the hill . Wonder how much up there . Suspect it will be gone by lunchtime ?

I expect so - I’m stuck in Woodhatch so can’t see it!
