Think of the Airports I suppose

LGW - London Gatwick

LST - London Stansted

LTN - London Luton

That alone is Sussex, Essex and Beds

I LOVE lilt, remember when that was invented! It was sooo tropical

It's going cheap in my local Co-op and personally I drink it any time the temp goes above 6˚c.

Wrt to Saturday I noticed in the model runs that the snow risk, which was totally absent yesterday, appears now in the North Sea - a westward correction of the cold air. As you can see by its orientation and Southerly extent this just has to keep correcting West for Surrey and Sussex to be in play. Fingers crossed eh? Hopefully it will be a more widespread event than tomorrow.

I'm sure us all in this epic thread will over the next few weeks enjoy some pretty good snow events...Yes we are in a thread that's vast in area, but we do have these lovely unpredictable snow events that can grow into some stunning eye openers...the Thames, The wash all can produce the Growing Magic. !!!

my local met office station is Kenley, its about 1.5 miles from me. On Monday it showed the max temp for this friday was 7c, this morning the forecast temp had dropped to 3c and now it is showing 2c, so you can see how the models initially moved the mild air further east but as the week has gone on the cold weather has slowed the mild airs easterly path to the point where it is now further west. Similarly for Saturday, Monday's forcast for precipitation showed Rain all morning, at lunchtime today that had changed to sleet all morning, and this evening it is now showing as snow all morning. It shows that this area is in a very marginal zone where we probably won't get to know the true type of precipitation we will have until it actually happens.

We wait with baited breath to find out.

My local official station tòo, Met Office Caterham temp forecast for tomorrow drops from 9C at 5am to 2C at 2pm, the reverse of what normally happens diurnally. Shows how the mild air in the morning is squeezed out by early afternoon.

Delays of data coming out of the Met office this evening, so 15z that's usually out by now not available yet, it goes out to T+120, so will cover Saturday.

Just watched the week ahead forecast and will put in here what they have down.

Monday 10c

Tuesday 11c

Wednesday 10c

Thursday 8c

Friday 7c

As a little test lets see how those temps stack up.

Lets see what the 12z Models show as they will be rolling out soon.

Btw some cracking pictures in this thread today.

Lol

This I fear is not going to age well - My post from Sunday with what the BBC said I would be getting this week. As an aside the Saturday was showing 9c so will bump this seeing as we are half way through.

Just to keep it upto date

Monday was 8c in Leigh On Sea so overstated by 2c from the Beeb

Tuesday was 7c in Leigh On Sea so overstated by 4c from the Beeb

Today was 6c in Leigh On Sea so overstated by 4c from the Beeb

Am pretty confident tomorrow and Friday will be overstated by 4c on both days and Saturday well anyones guess.

But this does prove the point that the BBC forecasts have a very big agenda with pushing temps way too high and bang the "At least it will be mild drum"

Noticed this too.

The temps have been forecasted much higher than we actually got.

Nothing like 'possible disruptive accumulations' to get people jumping for joy.

That does sound to me like a possible warning coming up based off the wording they're using.

Wow from rainfest 24hrs ago to not only a sleet mention, not only a snow mention but a "significant accumulations" mention!!!! (On Meto update)

I sit here (near Epsom), with my weather station saying it's 8.7c outside and set to stay around 9c all night until it drops to 4c at 1pm tomorrow and 2c by 4pm with sleet! And heavy snow Sat morning! Possible change to rain midday though but let's wait and see!!x

I see 18z GooFuS is last to the party tomorrow again. But it is now showing snow like the other models at least

How long before it smells the coffee for Saturday but dont worry its not showing anything at the moment as it is hopeless at precip and mesoscale like I have always stated and will not budge from that.
