Was quite weird how it all erupted here today seemed quiet then all of a sudden almost out of nothing a short very heavy rain/hail shower before it all analgimated into that band of heavy rain/storms has cooled it off quite considerably tho

Not had the thundery side of the coin here thus far but I'm liking how the CAPE is forecast to be streaming through the forth through Wednesday night and first part of Thursday

Torrential rain on here just now for about the fourth time today. Most thunder was late morning but there were a couple of claps in the late afternoon too.

Some showers pepping up in the N Sea now which might affect us further north.

Fingers crossed for you Aberdeen residents I know you are often left out of the thundery setups whilst us Fifers and Edinburgh do well so it's a nice change seeing lightning going toward Aberdeen

Had a couple of heavy downpours early afternoon but other than that and a few flashes and a couple of bangs in the morning and nothing else.. bit boring really..

I can see lightning flashing out to the east.  Heading this way.

Spoke to soon... several lighting flashes and some very load thunder and all of a sudden the radar is alive and some really heavy rain coming in..might get a bit interesting all of a sudden..

Massive lightning flashes now really load thunder immediately after the flashes... never seen rain this heavy before..kids loving it but not the dog..

Wow... massive flash, electric out instantly thunder so loud it rattled the windows.. and then as quickly as it started it stopped..brilliant stuff..

Lots of flashes and quite loud thunder from your direction - looks like you've scored a direct hit. 

One of our dogs doesn't seem too fussed but the other, as always, is glued to the window!

Yep looking at the radar it was directly above my house and locals reporting the strike as in the field behind our house literally 15m away.. looks like plenty more coming in from the east too...

Yeah same here, woke to almost monsoon like conditions here this morning, I've never seen the dog pee and get back inside so quickly .

Radar seems to have a large area of heavy rain heading straight at us from a south easterly direction.

Some biblical outbreaks of rain over the last two days, the deeply unscientific use of a empty food tray suggests over 2 inches of rain in that time which actually kind of tallies with the SEPA data...

Rainfall data for Scotland.

As the rain came in the form of torrential showers, flash flooding the order of the day round here with a lot of soil being washed out of fields onto roads.

Never feeling cold though, temperature has hovered between 14 and 16c for days now with light winds - sun now out.

The combination of mild weather and copious rainfall since the weekend doing wonders for the lawn grass - its rocketed back into growth and looking very lush indeed.

Never very sure of the accuracy of amateur rain gauges,  but so far this month from the one just along the road...

1st - 0.0 mm
2nd - 0.0 mm
3rd - 0.0 mm
4th - 21.5 mm
5th - 0.51 mm
6th - 26.92 mm
7th - 18.03 mm so far

The rain on the 4th mainly fell between 10am and 12 noon, steadily heavy with occasional even heavier bursts. About 15mm of the rain yesterday, 6th, came in a torrential 30min period early afternoon. real gutters overflowing stuff. Today's rainfall fell mainly between 6 and 9am, heavy enough at at least one point early on that I was vaguely conscious of  it rattling off the windows and roof whilst still mostly asleep. Stopped now, even brightened up for a bit but back to mainly cloudy again.

Tonight still looking superb, I'm making a bold call that once the flow goes easterly things will kick off sharpish
