Hi all, a wintry feeling day today. Remained foggy with a high of 5-6*C.

Not to be taken literally but, automated forecasts starting to pick up on the snow risk for here later next week. It’s great living in an area where it doesn’t take deep cold or a ‘special’ setup to see proper winter weather! Unlike when I lived in London.

High parts of the Peak District could see some snow tomorrow courtesy of a convergence line moving through the area, with quite cold air in place (circa -5°C 850hPa temperatures).

Some nice streamers coming in off the North Sea, boxes well for convective snow showers next week 🙂

Looking forward to recording some proper air frosts this week!

I am also hoping to record my first flakes of the season, but sadly, I don't think I'll see anything more substantial. But still time for things to pop up and give surprises.

Plenty of very cold rain showers blowing through here now off the North sea from this Easterly. A tad warmer tomorrow (I mean a tad).. then the realy cold Northerly kicks in for the rest of the week.. After that is a who knows.

Aye. A trough looks to bring an area of rain, sleet and snow southwards during Thursday. Automated forecasts picking up on this now.

Cold outlook as has been the case for a while.

But TBH, I prefer the GFS 12z over the ECMWF 12z, higher risk with the GFS of course with more vigorous Atlantic lows; but the rewards could be amazing!

That to me is the best chart I've seen, this season anwyay, model thread members seem to prefer GFS, but I'm 'team' UKMO

Should finally manage the frost air frost of the cold season, which locally will be the second latest on record.

UKMO 12z is pure beauty for us fellow midlanders, GFS and ECM 00z showed similar this morning, for now we can only dream for that to happen, but it isn't impossible
