We had some more torrential rain this morning as well as last night and yesterday afternoon. I wouldn't be surprised if we've already reached or even surpassed the average September rainfall totals.

After months on end of being predominantly dry and settled, the rain eventually arrived with a vengeance.

Had a heavy thundery shower around an hour ago.  Quiet for now though.

It was looking rather good earlier what was coming up from the south,  but it’s fizzling out in looking at the latest radar output 🙄

Oh well ! we’ve done Okies over the last few nights so you can’t win ‘em all 😉

Thunder again here at the moment to the east and west. That's 5 days with thunder heard this month, a record for September. The previous record was 4 days in 1968 and 1982. All the more remarkable as there had been no thunder at all in the first 8 months of the year, which itself was a record.

Once again just caught the edge of the latest storm as it travelled southwards just to the east of us.

One serious flash as it past over, otherwise the storm passed between Knowle and Warwick (Not the first in the last 10 days).

Of the 5 storms I've recorded we only had one directly overhead,  but we still had around 5mms of rain from each of them.

The good news is that we have had 30mms of rain since sunday night. Most of it in the form of thundery showers,

The lawns and garden are loving it, as it is now perfect growing weather, with the sun out again before the next shower.

Reminds me of a stay in Miami.

Hoping for a dry day tomorrow so that the mower can come out.

MIA

Very deep booms, rougly 4:30pm today 2 or 3 at a push then another, less loud about 5:30pm (if you can call a boom not loud)

Even Mom called me, She lives in Wolverhampton on the border with Essington.

Anyone else heard it?

Definatally not fireworks or thunder.

I did the usual scan looking at Litchfield Barracks / Cosford / Stafford doing a gun salute for obvious reasons with a search narrowed to the last 24 hrs to no avail.

It’s giving its best here right now, but regarding the radar it’s showing heavy ‘ish rain….big drops here but that’s about it  🤔

Temp 19.5c …humidity 93%

A min' of 6.6c last night made it the coolest night since June 19th ( 5.9c ) Definitely an autumnal feel this morning despite the sunshine.

The first ground frost of the season last night with a grass min' of -0.4c. It's also the earliest ground frost on record ( since 1977 ), one day earlier than the previous record in 2007.

Not been a bad couple of days to end one of the memorable summers.

Still feeling really pleasant in any sunshine, may eek one more day out before we have to think about coats, brollies and heaven forbid, a blast of heating.

Good news is lovely steady rain just started to fall.  Bad news is I will need to weed and dig the garden over for winter when wet enough and easier to dig.

You might well consider leaving the weeds until the spring, as any kind of groundcover reduces the leaching-out of nutrients?👍

Chilly for September here last night, got down to 2.5 °C. Reasonable, if again chilly, day followed albeit mostly cloudy.

Even the BBC.. Will most certainly be extremely 'vile' then.

Moderate rain moving in now here.
