Out of our area, but the Lakes has got a right pelting.

Lots of people stranded. Schools and Parish halls open in Ambleside and Hawkshead for emergency shelters (presume day trippers unable to get home due to bad road conditions)

perfect setup for them, WSW'ly, amazed they don't get pelted most days at higher elevations at least

Only a light 42cm dusting is expected.

Those charts look pretty ok for me, but their actual forecast has downgraded from earlier?

UKV catches onto tonight’s snow risk at the last minute.

I don't like bringing it up in the mod thread because the same couple of people have a go and get defensive,  but the ukv is really poor with precipitation amounts, it's good at temperatures values that's about it.

It’s the only model that normally underestimates snow. Many times it’s shown me seeing nothing and I’ve got pasted.

The fog was quite impressive in the early hours of this morning, the dencity of the air made things so silent, quite hard to explain but i would say, simalar to how conditions sound when its snowing - weird.

Anyway, its snow watch time !

Monday is moving south pretty much each day - soon most of the mids will be under snow most of the day. Sure I'll enjoy that at college for an hour!

But tonight is interesting nonetheless. Feel I might be too far south but let's see.

Just having a wonder about on 'Windy' ECMWF showing this for midnight, seems to follow the trends on the above snowfall areas that many of you have posted, and a big thanks for that.

Had the tiniest of dustings here, looks like most of the good stuff is further into North Shropshire. Hopefully this main band shows up later.

Where do you think the snow / sleet / freezing rain line will be? I'm pretty much inbetween yellow warnings. I'm hoping we'll see snow in the morning, a dusting at the very least!

elevation the key, probably approx 200m for decent snow, 150m or less dusting likely

Yes its forecast to pep up now and pep up as it moves in land, anywhere from m4 north according to BBC but to be honest its a now cast situation, some may well be surprised tonight. Light winds and evaporative cooling can come to to play during marginal situations although today's temps there really shouldn't be anything marginal about it the wet bulb temp tonight is the tricky one.

All in all il probably be getting sent loads of pics from my bro @mark in brum and il have a sleet fest in wellesbourne Warwickshire but im hoping we all do well out of it
