I don't know why but it even looks a bit suspect for reasons I do not know .

Evaporative cooling, it's there but not heavy enough to reach the ground.

Properly cold one this morning, -8.2c

Scratch that.  Even though it's light in the last 10 mins the mist is rolling in and the temp has dropped further to -8.8c!

And now it's -9.3c!  I've seen the temp drop before a few tenths as the sun rises but I don't recall it dropping this much.  We seem to be in small pocket of very cold air close to the bottom of the Chilterns.

Fresh dusting overnight here maybe 0.5-1cm looks like that band of snow did come a tad more east that expected looking at the last 24 hour radar

4 days of snow cover ( paths / roads mostly clear) shows what a HLB around Greenland does for UK winter Synoptics . In 50 years I can prob count only 5-7 occasions I’ve seen snow stick around this long in london last time 2010 . So gonna make the most of a glorious winter scene - it’s sensational today in the cold sun

It's many years since I remember the bird baths re-freezing during the day time - as they have done this morning. A cracking day of hazy sunshine,  temp -0.2, dew point -1.5.

Very true. If the sticks around on the ground for another 2 days it will surpass 2010 easily. Amazing to think that this time last week there was only a slight possibility of heavy snow in the London area. Just goes to show what can happen in the space of a few days.

This spell certainly puts the so called "Beast" from the East with its 1cm of snow for 2 days to shame! LoL

Another day of waking up to a Christmas card scene here, I was hopeful the mild blip would be just that and by the middle of next week we would be back in the freezer but that’s looking less likely now - at least the wildlife will have an easier time of it after the harshness of the last few days ❄️ All good things come to an end, just too soon for me ❄️

Got down to -4.3 here again this morning and as at 12.25 still -0.8-that’s 91 consecutive hours it has stayed below zero.Looks like we will just creep above zero between 1-3pm before another hard frost tonight.

Looks nailed on for milder weather midday Sunday and the optimism from yesterday about it being a mild blip seems to have gone as it just looks average for next week so chances of cold for Christmas has dropped. That said still time for that to change and nothing past 120hours set in stone by any means.Enjoy the last few says of this current cold spell though,it’s been quite impressive compared to last few years.

Hi all, have to agree with some on here on the longevity of cold. Here in Cambourne it’s still full snow cover with only main roads clear.

Still not sure of the situation for Sunday. The forecasts are still mentioning the possibility of a period of snow before turning to rain later. Not sure if it will amount to much for our region. The model thread isn't much help, everyone seems to have moved on to the mild(er) weather that the models seemingly have nailed for next week now.

Absolutely cracking day out there. When I woke up and saw clear sunny skies, I feared the worst re snow melt but there hasn’t been any. It’s still sub zero and all the snow is sticking around.

Was a glorious sunny morning here, now thick fog has rolled in. Breeze also slightly stronger today with feels absolutely biting!

Also wonder how far south these showers pushing down into Norfolk might come before running out of gas?
