Warm night and morning. Radar showing 'sferics to the W and SW already, so could be an interesting day. Temp is already around 30 degrees with barometric pressure down to 1011.

Just driven from Westbury to Warminster and the only cloud is convection/towers in the distance, satellite suggests it’s nearly as far away as Exeter. That’s the best part of 100 miles away it’s visible from!

Just about a tropical night here last night with a low of 20.1°C. Already reached 31.0°C here about an hour ago but it's dropped back a bit now to 28.8°C

Hope some of that rain makes it to Exeter and doesn't just fragment up before reaching, really need the rain here!

Strong breeze picked up now. Making it very pleasant to sunbathe in.

33.4c and off to get my son. Such a dry heat still that it doesn’t feel uncomfortable.

Be quite amusing if the humidity rises into tomorrow and it’s about 25c which will be far more uncomfortable yet kids stay in school, it will make something of a mockery of this!

Temp falling away fast now. Pretty much clouded over. Several hours earlier than expected.

No cloud here, hazy sky.
Temp is still rising here, my weather station and other carefully located thermometers are showing 32.5c
Bit higher than I expected based on the forecasts.

Still sunny at Sandbanks, can’t see much cloud over the Purbecks, but some high cloud building

Temp has dropped nearly 4 degrees, and the wind has got up.

Sunshine came to an abrupt end.

Looking at your wind direction , you had quite a change from the easterly wind to a SW midday, then back to easterly again.
The forecasts have most of the south coast moving later this afternoon to SW direction, bringing lower temps.
We are still Easterly as we have mostly been through today, with a blip S or SE, around midday.

Sun back out in Kingsbridge, we had several near(ish) bolts of lightning about 2 hours ago.

Feels incredibly oppressive though, humidity must have shot up?! Certainly doesn't feel remotely fresher!

Looking at the temperatures further east and it is just unbelievable to see some of the figures posted before midday. I totally get they were predicted for today, but even so...

There seem to be two bands of precipitation to the SW - it will be interesting to see whether the first band blows through or starts building again during peak heating. The forecasts for cloud/rain here in N Somerset are all over the place so I'm just nowcasting with the satellite.
