Expanding on my prediction (5.8, 75) I'm expecting a somewhat similar evolution to what happened in 1997 and 2000 in that the jetstream moved southward gradually transitioning anticyclonic weather to wet Atlantic conditions. (In particular, winter so far does seem to have some strong similarities to 1999/2000). But the high seems a little stronger this year so consequently, perhaps drier in the south.

Might be completely wrong of course!

Another largely blocked month with cooler interludes (blocking primarily over/north east of the UK).

4.6C, 60mm.

Buh bye 1779.

8.0 C and 55.5 mm.

Going to happen sooner or later.  America will be the place to be for snow fixes now….

Although the start of the month will be fairly quiet, I reckon that before long Atlantic storms will be queuing up to lash rain and gales at us for most of the month and Half Term will be a washout. Think February 1997 it will be similar. Very wet!

Nothing particularly cold that lasts any length of time, I think this has got 6.0.C and 166mm written all over it.
