Well when you are an hour into a red warning and it just seems like a normal windy day it is confusing!

"Middle of the day" for worst of the forecasted wind impacts along South coast and South East.

This is the earth:nullschool estimate of how the winds are as at 8.00am.

The area circled is yet to come moving eastwards.

I'm laying here and in the last 20 mins it's gone from earily silent to a low roar which at first I thought was a ship in the estuary but its not its more consistent, my fence panels are rattling away!!

That's what I heard.

The wind has gone quite wild the last 15 minutes. A new record high mean wind 78.1km/h and gust 93.7km/h (58 mph), though records are only since last December.

Nothing too crazy in South Devon just yet, windy and gusty but nothing out of the ordinary. Looks like the worse is still to come though looking at the satellite imagery.

Just moved into a new build half a mile inland from Chesil beach at Wyke Regis. Certainly starting to get a bit hairy here now.

It’s very windy here in Kilgetty, Pembrokeshire.  I’ve been awake since 2 with the wind but Eunice has definitely cleared her throat and is full roar now, it seems.  Not sure if she’s at her fiercest yet or is there worse to come.  It’s definitely lively! Stay safe all. X

So an hour ago I jumped in the car and drove to work before anyone else got there, stuffed the laptop and files in the car and drove home. Stuff it. I'm not taking holiday either.

On route, I was listening to 3 Counties Radio who were interviewing a roofer who was trying to get to work at a central London building site. He was at the station where he was told no trains and no replacement services - yet he was still trying to find a way to get into London to work on a roof at his bosses insistence! Madness.

its unbelievably calm here by the sea on the coast in Dublin

Ties in nicely with the gfs. The calmness is moving east towards us in NW Wales before the wind will kick in again around 11 am.

Well here in S Wales the wind turbines are still turning at 1300’ asl

I would have thought they would be turned away from the wind today

Guessing the strong winds aren't there yet then lol

Nothing of note here nearly an hour into the red warning (we are right on the edge of it here in RCT)

We’re getting into it in pembs since 7am

Might be calm in many places but it's really, really windy here already - windiest I've seen in many a moon so given that this is nowhere near peak then I'd say I'm worried.  My instincts aren't good on this but I hope to have egg on my face in front of friends family and work colleagues later...
