Congrats on those! I also had my camera pointed at one of our two TV masts (Chillerton) over here but didn't get so lucky! You've done really well there given the lack of CGs. There are more in your photos than I even saw with my eyes! I really messed up in terms of positioning etc which didn't help.

Thanks!

There was some quite prolific lightning over your way, I'm surprised you didn't see more than you did,

but I agree, from what I could see most, of the lightning was in the cloud

Hopefully tonight yields better cloud to  ground lightning prospects...

Looks like it could be a late one

Good Afternoon

Was gonna post last night but got really late. Anyway it was a very eventful one last night, we headed out just after 10pm due to the first load of cells that developed way to our South. First we went up to Brading downs and could see the lightning very clearly in the distance which was very frequent. As these moved closer further storms developed ahead of the current cells that was already firing, by this point we were looking in all directions with frequent lightning all around, and eventually these made it over head. The lightning was constant along with almost constant thunder too, much of the lightning was intra cloud, so a lot of the thunder was fairly quiet. Though there was some cg's at times leading to some very loud cracks of thunder, this was accompanied by some very heavy to torrential rain which became quite hazardous for a time, as well as some very strong wind gusts to our surprise!

Once these started to move through we then decided to drive to Culver downs to watch the back of the storms as they moved towards the mainland. The lightning was going absolutely crazy, with all different types from big cg's including posi's, anvil crawlers as well as classic spidery looking lightning, at one point it was flashing every second for long periods. A very entertaining night which had all ended just before 1am as the storms moved to far away. I do have some footage which ill try to upload over the coarse of the day 🙂

Got my fingers crossed for round 2 later this Evening and overnight! Its looking quite promising again along with a higher risk of hail!

Now this looks very interesting. Is this the first ever TORRO tornado watch issued for us? I've never seen one before.

Cornwall getting some action right now. Looking fairly active too.

From a very much NIMBY perspective, UKV is now on the same line as AROME and NMM with a thunderstorm cluster across SE parts tonight.

The radar site is right in the middle of that, and it's suddenly gone down.

Looks like development has started further west that initially expected. Once again, the best place to be is outside the Met warning zone! 😂

Hoping for some thunderstorms later in south Devon, we always seem to avoid the worst here.

Perhaps I wasn't clear, I mean it looks as if the radar site has been taken out by the storm. There is a radar at Predannack airfield and it has been peppered with lightning strikes. Stornoway suffered a similar fate a few years ago.

Check out the radar images in Cornwall over the last half an hour, the resolution goes to crap just as the storm moves through. That radar has for whatever reason disappeared from the composite. I think it's been zapped.

Turning, hot, humid and sunny now on the East Sussex coast.

Plenty of broken mid level instability.

Feels and looks primed..

However, the pre cursor to last nights super display was anything but classic in terms of the look and feel.
