Very soupy here in Lynn right now. Very calm and still too! Noticing the seagulls are quite vocal however and flying inland. That has always been a giveaway for an imminent storm over the years I’ve been observing!

No real signs of thunder and lightning here. Plenty of rain falling at the moment though.

If the conditions are right you can get thunderstorms any time of the year. Mid winter storms can have convective activity and even snow storms may have lightning.

As this system moves north looks like quite an area of activity developing with convection lines intensifying...

Only late in terms of the plume-like set-up causing them, which is more typical of May - September. In the winter we see storms in many other situations though, often in showery Maritime flows. It's all about having a decent temperature gradient in the atmosphere, which can occur no matter the time of year.

Had a very nice thunderstorm a couple of hours ago - definitely had a few close +CGs as well, despite being shrouded with low cloud for most of the time and unable to see any bolts.

Looks like the storm on the radars moving North West quite quickly so thunder/lightning won't last long, still very impressive to hear. Proper good loud ones

Little bit of neat structure from the outside of the storm, presume it'd be classified as parts of the "Whale's Mouth".

Can't remember the last time I had a storm to accompany on my morning commute so it being in October is a nice surprise!

Heard one rumble of thunder today. I’ve never known an autumn having significantly more thunder days than the summer. Puts me at 6 days of thunder this autumn, compared to 1 day this last summer.

Tomorrow's event is definitely a cause for focus. Looks like a lot of small convective cells are going to be popping up in the SW and heading NEwards, Not sure if there will be any thunder or lightning associated with these but definitely a risk for isolated flooding if cells track over the same areas.
