Haven’t bothered to look outside yet but if the radar is anything to go by then the rain should be across most of the region by now and just about to start here.

then, looking at the bright echoes, it’s looking like another thoroughly wet and miserable few hours before it turns into a showery form of wetness later in the day.

at least it will be mild though🤬

No need to look outside here to see what the weather is doing, can hear the rain coming down in torrents. Looking like a real washout this morning, but as you rightly say, at least it will be mild 😂

On train to Narbonne to dip our toes in the Mediterranean and get some culture… meant to be sunny ☀️ & warmish….

looking at the cameras at home it looks wet… only 3c and chucking it down… 🤢 yuck

Hopefully prospects of colder with snowy possibilities looking at models

Oh dear! Not helped in this country by a wet and miserable morning. Can it get any worse? (I will not comment on what is likely to be headline news tonight, suffice to say that it will not be the weather!). ☹️

Will the endless rain train ever stop? You'd be forgiven for thinking it was still night time this morning, so dark. 6.1C.

A weak transient ridge of high pressure tomorrow should allow some of us to at least see some sunshine, though there will still be some rain around. There's some interest around the day 7 mark, with the prospect of some cold PM incursions, should bring some more seasonal temperatures and wintry showers on the strong flow. Could even see the all-famous Irish Sea hailstone showers nearer to the coasts.

Shouldn't be much in the way of marginality despite the temperatures either thanks to a super low pressure gradient, the DAM well below 0C across the country (see screenshot).

After that, rinse and repeat really, but it looks like the pattern is finally evolving and moving towards something slightly more interesting. Finally.

Went out to Kendal on some errands lots of flooded  sections of road ,it’s the only time having a 4x4 makes sense as we never get snow anymore

It’s certainly been a bit moist today with a bit of local flooding.

Just over 25mm recorded at my closest EA gauge with almost 38mm at the one a couple of miles over on the West Yorkshire side of the ridge so not a lot on its own but with ground already saturated, it doesn’t take a lot to start running off the fields.

interesting to see the spillways on the reservoirs near work with a decent flow given that only a couple of months ago they were about 8 metres short of being needed.

Doesn't get much more grim than a wet and dark January day like today. Nearly 30mm of rain here which takes the total this month to over 100mm. Considering that's not far off an average total for the whole month, it's been a very wet start. A little surprised there's not been more issues with flooding.

Hammering it down again as the squall line comes through but thankfully it looks like a rapid clearance after that.

Interesting developments today, well it kinda started last night, that limpet Euro high has got given the boot back into the Atlantic thankfully. Looks like we'll see increasing amounts of PM air from weekend and Sunday night into Monday looks intriguing as we see an unstable NW flow off the Irish sea, these can bring a good few inches of snow for inland parts, in particular the SE parts of the region, it looks quite "troughy" to me after that too. Hints of something lurking to the east late in the month but way too far ahead to have any confidence in it. This winter is not done with us yet, like I said a few days ago write it off at your peril! One bad cold spell early in the Winter doesn't mean we won't get another later on. We've had time to spare since the cold in early-mid December and that's worked in our favour. Now going forward it's not too late in the season for something significant to develop again.

Not too late at all, in many a year, winter only gets going until mid January and the coldest weather of the year lies ahead.

A unexpected squall giving torrential rain and some high gusts is currently passing through here, that wasn't in the forecast, a bit of short-lived 'excitement' to see out what's mostly been a typical drizzly-misty day.

The model output has my interest for next week, I’m just wondering what day it’s going to go wrong 😂
